So, as everyone else knows, pilot suits are completely given up on and have almost no salvation. :-(
I have a reccomendation. give us warfare link suits. These suits would take up the second light suit and would be very tanky for lightsuits.
--what are warfare links?-- warfare links are links that give bonuses automatically to near troops. usually in a squad. These links exist in eve, and they are vital to fleets, giving bonuses to speed, shields, and armor.
--how will these links work?-- these links will give passive bonuses to nearby squad members (within 50m), and will be vital to any team effort. The light suits will have no equipment slots and no light weapon slots. They will however, have 2 sidearm slots. ( have fun with dual ion pistols ) Slot layout will be the same as logistics, with the CPU and PG of an intermediate of assaults and scouts. to have the passive bonuses, the squad leader will have to designate a 'squad booster'. the booster cannot be the squad leader and there cannot be more than one booster. to maintain a balance, these 'squad boosters' will have a special symbol above their head, perhaps a 'Gû+'? and will be picked up on passive scan 50m away ( the same radius that gives their members bonuses).
--individual suits' stats-- Amarr: gives bonus to: armor resistances how it gets war points: triage (adding EHP) via damage done to squad members. suit bonus: +X% to nearby squad members' armor resistances / level. Caldari: gives bonus to: shield ammount how it gets war points: triage (whenever shields regen past their normal ammount) suit bonus: +X% to nearby squad shield total HP / level -X% to nearby squad shield regen delay. Gallente: gives bonus to: Armor repair how it gets warpoints: triage ( obvious) suit bonus: +X Hp/s to armor repair rate of nearby squad member's armor Minmatar: gives bonus to: speed, stamina, stamina regen. how it gets warpoints: whenever a squad member travels 100m while getting bonuses, the user will get 25 war points. suit bonus: +X% to speed and stamina, and +X% to stamina regen rate of nearby squad members per level.

Like the Battle Crys in Far Cry 3 multiplayer? Sounds pretty cool, and encourages noobs to squad up. |

I'd rather have warfare link vehicles. Toss a 'Doctrine' module on a tank and then when activated it pulses like an active scanner (but has say a 5 second cooldown, and a 600 second uptime - functionally it can be run forever). Anything friendly within the influence of its pulses gets the benefit of the module.
Now as to what bonuses it would get... who can say, I think that simply having the module should be a bonus in and of itself, there doesn't need to be a WP bonus associated with it.

Why must you use prototypes?

Premise
For those of you who do not know the leadership skill tree affects the operation and efficiency of managing a Fleet in EVE, and is a necessary requirement of every FC in order to boost their fleet and ensure the maximum number of players can be fit into each squad, wing, etc.
In Dust I see a great potential for integration of the Command (ship) Suit role to develop as a core component of Legion Warfare adding a tactical edge to engagement.
This being the inclusion of a suit specifically designed for those who regularly act as Squad Leader with the express purpose of providing squad wide buffs for those players within its broadcast range.
Since the Commando suit is being removed in Legion perhaps there is an opportunity to replace the Commando....with Commander.
Mechanics
The fundamental mechanics of Leadership focus of the development of skills that directly affect Squad Composition allowing for the inclusion of larger squads in the proposed larger battles on what we hope are larger maps.
They also provide small bonuses to specific attributes, no more that 1-2% per level for the base skills, and no more that 1-5% as a whole per Warfare Link module.
What a Warfare Link module does is provide a squad wide bonus, or a bonus within a certain radius, for all squad members, enhancing their stats further in one specific attribute.
Skills
Leadership- +1 additional Squad mates per level past Lvl I (Maximum of 10 Squad members) Platoon Command- + 1 Additional Squad per level past Lvl I (Maximum 5 Squads) Armoured Warfare Specialist- 1% Per level to Squad Armour Values and unlocks Armour Warfare Links Shield Warfare Specialist- 1% per level to Shield Values and unlocks Shield Warfare Links Salvage Battlefield Proficiency- 1% per level to Salvager efficiencies and unlocks Salvager Link Modules
Etc
These skills being that these skills are very useful in competitive and squad base play I also suggest they have very high SP modifiers to compensate for their value meaning that a player who is dedicated or invested in the role of Squad Lead or Ground Commander has a specific tree and suit type they can invest in.
The Commander Dropsuit
The Commander Dropsuit would be a specialised dropsuit with the express purpose of fitting a Warfare Link Module and extending the links effects, it would have solid HP values on par with the Commmando suit, a Single Light Slot and Side Arm, no grenade, and an Equipment Slot.
For Bonuses I would suggest the following
As a Base bonus on all suits, or all tiers.
75% Reduction to the fitting costs of Warfare Link Modules
As a Role Bonus: 20% increase to the broadcast radius of Warfare Links per level
At this time I am taking submissions for fair and balanced racial bonuses.
Warfare Links
Warfare links are significant investments in terms of PG and CPU and should only really be fitted on Commander frames, and only 1 per suit as a result of the naturally high PG and CPU costs.
A warfare link would have a base broadcasting range of 40m, at Lvl Commander Operation 80m, and apply its modifier to all squad/ platoon members within that radius. It would not apply to non squad or non platoon members.
E.g-
Armoured Warfare Link: 5% increase to squad wide Armour values within broadcast range Skirmish Link: 10% increase to Squad wide mobility (walking speed) within broadcast range Salvage Link: 10% increase to salvager efficiency of all squad members within broad cast range.

Amadance, do you see the need for a whole skill tree that's going to be useful to one type of suit? I like to simplify things, like in eve to dust. For example logistics ships (oneiros, baslisk, guardian, scimitar) have many skills dedicated to them, but in dust we have less of a tree, it's not the suit that applies the bonus, it's the book.

Ahh the fabled command suit. The one that was talked about almost two years ago with a big SOONGäó tag next to it along with pilot suits and racial vehicles (though we actually got art for those). I'd love to see it but I won't hold my breath.

I've always wantted that suit to exist since the first mentions of it by devs. No new content so not going to happen but yeah, i'd really like it to exist.
Also, True, my Leadership Skill tree is way sexier than yours https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1629685#post1629685
(ignore the fact that I have different values for likes and a different signature)
