If Legion goes the way we are all wanting it (Open World) one thing needs to be addressed: Respawning in combat.
Now currently we respawn using MCCs (exception being Ambush game mode) so why not have three different types of MCCs we can use: MAVs, HAVs and MCC Ships.
MAV
MAV (Medium Assault Vehicle) will used more for small Salvaging/Scouting operations by Corps. MAVs should have more EHP than LAVs but less than HAVs. After skilling into MAVs to be used you can Skill into installing a small MCC inside it. It will contain up to 20 spare clones before the module is rendered inactive. You will have to buy more clones for it to become active again.
This will also be the fastest ground based MCC.
HAV
Instead of just Tanks, there should be a mobile fortress style MCC. These will more more EHP than Tanks but will be much slower and act as a troop carrier with small turrets rather than large turrets. You will need to skill into medium MCCs to be able to install the module and it would hold a max of 100-150 clones.
This will be the slowest of all ground based MCC
Air Bound MCC
This is the current one we have plus. To skill into this I would suggest that Dropship piloting would be a prerequisite skill. These can fit anywhere from Small to Large MCC Modules. The max an airbound MCC can hold would be 300. I also suggest there being three different classes:
- Small Operations: Can have a max of 100 clones. Would be the cheapest, and fastest but vunerable to hand held AV weapons such as Forguns, Swarm Launchers, Plasma Cannons etc. And with all Air Bound MCC it will require a pilot to bring into battle. Can use small turrets to fight enemies on the ground and in the air.
- Medium Operations: Can have a max of 200 clones. Bit more expensive but because of the larger clone amount and the fact that it will require Null Cannons or Anti-Aircraft weapons to take down it will be worth it. It is slower than the Small Operations MCC. Can use medium turrets.
- Large Operations: Can have a max of 300 clones. Most expensive but can take a beating. Requires Null Cannons and Anti-Aircraft weapons to take down. Can use Large Turrets
With the Large and Medium Air Bound MCC's they should be big enough that a dropship can fly inside it. This will allow them to be taking down from the inside by a small team. It will also make it so you can't just hide in the MCCs. It could also mean that teams will have to have players aboard their own MCC to fight enemy boarding crews. (I like to thank Star Wars: Battlefront 2 for this idea)
With MCCs being piloted by players, this will mean they won't be sationary for most the battle. Also it could mean you can move it to be right over the objective, but be warned, the closer you are to the battle, the more likely it will be shot down.
Thoughts? Ideas? Concerns? Criticism? Cookies?
Edit: Would like to add that if a Corp in your Alliance has an MCC in an area you may spawn there. This will be helpful if you and your ally are fighting a rival corp and your MCC is destroyed.
Would also like to add that one your MCC is destroyed, you are on your last life with your clone and, when killed, would be sent back to the last Station/Base you spawned/jumped to.
Edit 2: The skills are required to bring in the MCC NOT to drive/pilot them. If no one is piloting a ground based MCC, it's clone count is still in effect. However if no one is in it (whether it be gunning or driving) it can be hacked and used by your opponents.
Faction Warfare MCCs will always be Air Bound Large Operations and will only fly in a circle around the objectives. It cannot be piloted by players, but can still be taken down by a boarding party.

Bump!
Also adding on:
Medium to Large Air Bound MCCs will be affected by gravity if they drift too low to the ground to the point where they can be grounded. Grounded MCCs can be boarded without the need for dropships and require 2 minutes before the pilot can get it off the ground. After take off the pilot would have 1 minute to get the MCC to cruising altitude or the MCC will stall and crash into the ground, restarting the grounded process.
Some planets would be more forgiving than others in this, as each planet has a different mass and gravitational pull.

First thing that needs to be pointed out is: this is open world. Not an arena FPS. We should be expecting to die far less often.
I believe I made a very popular thread about how respawns might work a while back. The main idea is that the owner of each spawn point would decide who can spawn (squad only, corpmates only, everyone, etc) Ofc, there would always be your friendly NPC-owned public spawn
