Thinking of how far Dust has come since the closed beta...and looking at the game status now:
Do you think that if CCP would have released Dust in the form it is now instead of Uprising 1.0, would it have kept the playerbase?
We have all of the racial suits for each infantry class. We have a large variety of weapons to choose from. Most of the framerate and bug issues of old were dealt with. I'm wondering if people would have stayed if Dust was released in its current form. I mean, cloaks and removal of passive ISK from districts may have pushed people away. But aside from that....do you guys think people would have stayed?

If they started from here, and the first thing on the board was racial vehicles, a market, fixing the shared passive scan bug, and better NPE in additon to still having 8v8 corp battles (or 8v8 districts)...I think most would have considered it a damn good release.

Right..I mean, the game still isn't 100% finished. The corp battle mode could have been brought back, all of the racial vehicles plus the advanced and proto vehicles aren't released. Having our own marketplace would be a huge and much desired addition to the game.
But if they started with this release and went from there, I'm thinking more people would have stayed. PC would be so much more interesting because there would be more players and corps and competition out there. There were corps like Gravity (never materialized in Dust) full of elite shooters that were anticipating coming to dust. I think about all of the RND members who never picked up the game that would have made our roster even better. And I know there are other competitive corps out there that took one look and never looked back.

I think about some of the things being where I'm at would've been having an connection to OUR Eve side, not some pirate alliances in a **** part of low-sec.

we were told why corp battles weren't returning, they scrapped the entire script and didn't want to rebuild from scratch. Same with Skrim 1.0.
If we never had Uprising, we'd still have ranged HMG's and such, i don't think you guys quite remember how much stronger every weapon was then compared to now, TTK was insanely low - low enough that the Imps using the best weaponry in spam could kill people fast enough that Uplink spam would just feed them.
Eventually TAC's became the only weapon of choice, and Imps dominated even harder, lol.
But the game would of died even faster, imo. The updates have been many in error, but a few good upgrades here and there, a year of that gave us a somewhat better game.
But the back and forth upbringing of the core mechanics is making the progress a headache to watch, we've witness them hammer back and forth, it's a pity.
There's really no hope left here.

We came up with an idea that may well fix uplink spam winning PC's.
not sure how to fix shotgun scouts without just furthering the delay from cloak and making it louder.
charge snipers are still pretty good. but yeah the new reticule and hopefully a buff to snipers using skill will help them be more useful.
SP rollover only possible with 1.9. pray or protest but likely not happening for dust.
heavies are OMA?
I think heavies benefit in PC from maps always boasting an outpost where firing lanes allow heavies to be spammed and people don't know how to counter it (like RE's) well in response. Hopefully my proposal to chance PC maps will shake things up...but yeah charlie in particular has given rise to a **** ton of burst hmg's.

Cloaked SG Scouts aren't the problem it's the SG + Cloak combo that makes it seem OP, just add a firing delay or force players to manually shut it off first. |

I'm pushing for the burst to be brought back down so it remains a skill shot not an i-spam/win button. getting all that dps out and then hopping back around cover is just laughable. sustained fire/engagements made dust unique as a shooter in beta for me.
manual shut off or firing delay sounds fine to me.

I can tell you how to fix cloaked shotgun scouts.
It's simple, change the function of the cloak.
HOW TO FIX THE CLOAK
1.) 5 Second cloaking and de-cloak time. This animation cannot be stopped once activated. No quickswitching weapons, NOTHING.
2.) On the bright side? FULL INVISIBILITY. Take the animation from standing still cloaked and make that the same for running.
3.) Create an "Assault" Variant. Has ZERO dampening bonus, but drastically reduced cloaking and de-cloak time. Also has a VERY short "Battery", coupled with the fact that it has permenant shimmer. Even when standing still. This one is made for those who want to maintain the combat cloaking. They pay for it with visibility. If they want to stay damped, they HAVE to run dampeners. It also has a slow regen, making it less appealing to spam it so much.
At the end of the day you have this:
Standard Cloak: Made for insertion/extraction. Has a lengthy activation and deactivation time, but also has a large battery. You are fully invisible even while running, but have drastically reduced combat capabilities. This is perfect for sneaking into the city, and then de-cloaking and going to work.
Assault Cloak: Made for combat. Short activation and de-cloak, but has a short battery. Also costs more CPU/PG. Made for combat usage, but is far easier to see and you get no dampening bonus. Regen makes it good for only 1-2 uses (3-5 seconds each) before having to recharge for 10s.

Then why is nobody whining about Nova Knives?
I've never thought that the shotgun damage argument made sense. Knives Literally deal around 1300 damage if you connect two charged swipes.
Shotguns only deal around 500. Even worse to armor. Amarr Sentinels take a good 3-4 shots to kill with their resistances.

Spur of the moment thing.
Also: Where are these NK whiners? If there is a thread that calls the Knives OP, I think I have an old bet that I will be losing.
