Elaborate. If you're just looking for lore and other back story on the four major factions and whatnot, check out Evelopedia. The general overview of each race can be read at the character creation screen before chiding a race.

Salutations. Alabaster! My interest in Dust 514 was never just as an innovative, weird new kind of FPS... There is a ton of Lore and conceived "story" and "history" behind the Races.
The BREiFEST but concise layout of the history of the Races (where they came from, who the heck they are, and WHY some are each others' enemy), can be found at
this Link: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Timeline
WHO each Race is, and what their CULTURE believes in (money, or politics, or belief in a god) is actually found in your initial game menu before you've picked what race your merc will be. It is also found at
this Link: http://community.eveonline.com/backstory/races/
Finally, if you REALLY like reading world news online, like Yahoo or BBC or WashingtonTimes reports, Ne Eden even has a "World News" online reports feed (imagined of course, but written like day-to-day breaking news stories). Find out about what caused certain corps to be hated, certain planets to be valuable, certain politiicians to be remembered, and where the company names from some of your proto weapons come from (...and what dirty industrial take-overs they may have been involved in to MAKE your proto weapon--heh-he).... ...this is my favorite Link for that: http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/
Hope this broadens and feeds your interests, Alabaster! Good Hunting!
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

If you are looking for whats the focus of their armor. The Minmatar are speed focused, Caldari are shields, Gallente seem to be more armor and the Amarr seem balanced between shields and armor but are slow. |

CCP wrote all of it, so it's tight and authentic). Good Hunting! This!!! So this!!
CCP should implement some sort of Eve World news update on our welcome message when we log in. It would go a long way in making us feel like we are part of an exciting, expanding, sci-fi world. As it is right now, there's very little to encourage us to invest in the lore.
Sad, but true. (T-T )

While the Gallente are of French origin, they are more closely represented by modern America.
Also, while they Amarr are know to commit some downright atrocious acts, they also did some good. The current empress freed a lot of slaves and with the the help of the Caldari, helped the start new lives. Also when the Gallente navy where chasing an Amarrian criminal who had fled to Amarr space, the imperial council had relocated it's fleets to allow access for the Fed fleets, knowing that one of their own was a criminal who needed to face justice.

Caldari-They tend to like to hit from far out with long range weapons, they like to have cover most of the time, and their suits tend to have higher shields, and more high slots generally. Gallente-In my mind, they are close range brawlers, with short range high damage weapons, with decent speed, and a focus on high reps (even though few people fit them that way). They normally have more low slots than the other races' suits. They have a very "in your face" type of fighting, which is very close range with high damage, enough armor to see you through, and fast enough reps to get you up and running for the next fight. Amarr-The Amarr tend to emphasize damage output and straight eHP over anything else, their suit designs are designed to be seen, and their primary tactic is to stand out in the open, and pick people off. They don't move super fast but can normally get the most eHP of any races' corresponding suit (example, Amarr Sentinel can have a higher eHP then a Gallente Sentinel, but will probably move slower). Amarr tend to tank armor and/or shields, and as such have a more balanced slot layout. Minmatar-The minmatar tend to be the low eHP, high speed people. Because they don't normally have that much eHP, the best strategy is to move from cover to cover as fast as you can. Minmatars' weapons are normally pretty solidly in the mid-range, and emphasize rate of fire, or splash damage.
Hope this helps, I think this is more along the lines of what OP wanted...
