Hopefully this can be done without a client update.
Why not just add a short "connecting" and "disconnecting" timer for entering and exiting vehicles? Like a 1-1.5 second timer before you get into a vehicle, or before you can move after exiting a vehicle. Lore excuse could be something on your dropsuit adjusting to the change of going in or out of a vehicle. The only thing that you should be able to do during this timer, for obvious reasons, is activate your inertia dampener.
Aside from obviously stopping HMG murder taxis, this could force more teamwork in general: rather than 3 LAVs pulling up to an objective with 1 person in each (like we always see now), it would be much better to have 3 people in 1 LAV, with the gunner covering the other 2 as they exit.
Thoughts?

Rattati said they tried to implement something like this but, simple as it sounds, it would require a new animation sequence and right now the player would get a blackscreen like they had been booted. So it is off the table.
Because, that's why.

You don't need a lore excuse.
Just say it's the time taking to hop in or out of a vehicle.
Like halo, minus the animation.

That is a good simple idea. And it has been suggested before, yes.
As I understood the LogiBro-Rattati entity regarded the LAV embarking timer as a big hindrance in actually managing to get on board the (piloted) LAV or any other vehicle. I guess the vehicle would have to be perfectly still or something like that.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

A simpler solution is to cut the LAVs speed based on passenger weight.
