Also since Dust is made free, it has been a game of choice for lower income households. People will continue playing it as long as they are having fun.

I'm surprised it hasn't dropped more. Also, you're talking about concurrent users, not total active users. I became fairly inactive after the Legion announcement, but just started playing a bit recently. I wonder if the exodus of many dedicated and high SP players made it easier for new players to come in to the game, and they might be replacing some of those numbers. Like @Newbs With Bewbs said, this is just speculation.

It would kind of be interesting to see the turnover.
I know that a lot of long time, hard core vets left after FF.
Others left months before.
There is a new bunch of regulars added to the mix, and some of them will wash out.
It is just the number that stays the same, and given the numbers of new players signing up, you would think the avg should rise.

I can definitely confirm that new players are coming into the game. We get people applying to corp that have just started playing on on a pretty regular basis. So while the game is losing players, it's probably gaining them at a similar rate. While this isn't ideal for an online game, considering the state of things, keeping steady is pretty impressive. |

Well the medium frames are now better which means starter fits are easier for new players to use along with faction warfare being a good way to get a lot of equipment per win. New gamemode variations would help too and I'm sure those can be done server side after they squad cup tournament and dev battles with 500 clones ambush. |

From what I've seen, the Starter Fits and Frames were not changed along with the Assaults.

best i can guess is a butt load of the good players left after fanfest and damned the game which with the addition of recent patches and the power vaccum has slightly improved the player turnover. lots of people still coming and immediately quiting but slightly higher to make up for the losses the community took.
anyones guess, im out of the loop.
