Howzit Guys
I have playing Dust 514 for about 5 months now and probably trained level 5 on not more than 4 items.
Handheld Weapons Level 5 Rail Rifle Level 5 Rail Rifle Proficiency Level 5 Light Weapons Level 5
What would you say would be the most important items to train for? Shield Armor ?
I know its also depending very much on the role you wanna play. But i would like to have some sort of guideline on what to train next.

Whatever "works best" tends to change from month to month.
Find gear which fits your playstyle goals and stick with it. Additionally, your Core Skills will always serve you well.
Edit: See Arkena's list above for priority Core Skills.

I'd note that fitting skills should be skilled up as needed.
I'd suggest for new players to choose Armor suits/mods over shields as it's less SP intensive and it's just better ATM.
I'd recommend the Combat rifle for the weapon.
A new player would be better off getting Armor plates to L5 and using Complex reactive plates while skilling up armor reps too.
I also believe that going logi and finding a decent group to run with is a good route for newer players, but it requires more a lot more SP and it can get expensive running decent equipment.

Core skills, you'll change suits, try new.weapons and equipment. But you will always want a higher base hp,cpu and pg. For a shield tanking regulators are your friend.
If Preparation is half of the battle and knowing is the other half, Then there is no need to fight.

I'd leave this be as a troll post, but this guy legitimately seems like he wants help, so I'm going to point out these are bad decisions. mostly. |

Core skills enhance every suit that you use and do not require any modules.
Most important, IMO: Dropsuit Armor Upgrades - add up to 25% more armor (more HPs) Dropsuit Shield Upgrades - add up to 25% more shields (more HPs) Dropsuit Electronic Upgrades - add up to 25% more CPU (use better gear) Dropsuit Engineering Upgrades - add up to 25% more PG (use better gear) Systems Hacking Upgrades - add up to 25% hacking speed (die less when hacking)
Other core skills: Dropsuit Core upgrades - add up to 5% more CPU and PG (use better gear) Dropsuit Biotic Upgrades - add up to 5% more sprint speed, stamina and stamina recovery rate Profile Dampening - reduce scan profile by up to 10% (be seen by less red dots) Scan Range Amplification - increase passive scan range by up to 50% (see more red dots) Scan Precision Enhancement - enhances passive scanning precision by up to 10% (see more red dots) |

Everyone has already said it but...
CORE SKILLS
Shields Armor CPU PG Hack Speed
These skills carry across all suits, and are extremely useful. With these to V, you have the following:
25% More Shields, 25% more Armor, 30% more CPU, 30% more PG, 25% faster hack speed.
This applies to all suits.
Get them sooner rather than later. Proto isn't that great unless you have the ability to fit it right.

Shield Upgrades V Armor Upgrades V
That's 25% more health right there. Basically nobody should train anything else until those are maxxed.
The core fitting (CPU/PG) upgrades come next.
Without those four, your proto suit is still as good as everyone else's militia suit. Going straight into dropsuit skills is almost exclusively a waste.

Better yet, here's your next 10 (in order): *Armor Upgrades - more Armor *Shield Upgrades - more Shields *CPU/PG Upgrades - more fitting space for later upgrades *Electronics - more fitting space for later upgrades *Engineering - more fitting space for later upgrades *Sidearm Operation - more fitting space for later upgrades (See a pattern here? Trust me.) *Range Amplification - see them coming from farther away *Profile Dampening - less chance of being seen *Precision Enhancement - more information on TacNet (Radar) *Systems Hacking - overturn objectives faster, steal vehicles faster
All Passive skills that will benefit everything you ever do. (I wish somebody would have provided this information when I first started playing.)
I don't always blap Infantry with a Forge Gun, but when I do, that ** is hilarious.

This. I have all these to 5, makes a std suit feel adv. You could even use this list order as priority.
I'd leave biotic till last.

A Wolf in Sheeps clothing.

In this order
- Armour Upgrades
- Shield Upgrades
- Armour Plating
- Armour Repair Systems
- Weapon operation (of a weapon of your choice)
- Weapon profciency (in the same weapon)
Doing this provides the following benfits 25% Maximum Armour Increase
25% Maximum Shield Increase
10% Bonus to Armour plating modules (also effected by the armour upgrades)
25% Bonus to Armour Repair modules (strangely reactives aren't effected by this skill)
Weapon bonus as advertised on the skill (some are better than other - could probably do with addressing in HFD)
+15% Damage for your weapon against its preferred damage type. (Best result are from hybrid or projectile weapons)
Almost everything else only provides menial upgrades to the modules and/or only when the modules are equipped to your suit. Do these 6 FIRST!!

I'd actually disagree. Level 5 for both of those are quite expensive, and while they should be a primary concern, getting them to 4 and then training other core skills like Engineering and Electronics is more important than that extra 5% to shield and armor, in the short term. |
