Being a support logi isn't easy,and i'm not talking about being a WP ***** repping someone that isn't taking damage. Or farming WP off OBs.
And yet CCP through this update has made being support,in particular rep support,almost moot.
Burst HMGs negate any hope of reps 100%,and are now being spammed because of that fact. When a burst HMG shoots it does kill instantly.And since heavies are still preferable,you can expect to see boat loads of them.
NK buffs and aim bot,i'm sorry i mean aim "assist" buffs to a weapon that can do 1 THOUSAND damage using 0 ammo. This will and as seen from playtime so far majority be used on logistics,and negates rep support.
Even in its conception there were pre planned logistics NERFS. 30 eHP from a scout yet CCP desired to slow them even MORE.
BTW 1 kincat on a Min heavy and it can almost outrun a Min logi with 0 plates,except with 300+ eHP and the ability to insta gib.
In general CCP has been Anti-Logi for a while now making hives horribly flimsy,not decreasing costs or increasing proficiency with all equipment to a degree. Now we have a situation where scouts/commandos and even ASSAULTS can use rep tools and hive as well as a logi.
Hives are useful for all of 1 second until a grenade on the other side of the wall blows them up. Woo 'support'.
Logistics is the only support suit in the game! Yet it's disrespected so badly even by its own creators.
If you had a single vehicle for transport,would you pull out a spark plug to make your neighbors car look better? The answer is LOLNO.
You would guarantee its running life,you would guarantee it can SURVIVE either through driving it slower to prevent crashes. Or better fuel so it runs FASTER,cleaner and more efficient.
IMHO this entire update was designed to make being a support logistics unnecessarily hard. Reps that are ineffective and you have to be in kissing distance and be defenseless all while that guy with a RR or CR kills you from 60-80m away doing 10x your reps in damage,scans that take almost a minute to cooldown (yet scouts get the 'scanarina' effect built in) Hives that cost 10k per hive made of the latest and greatest armor tech being annihilated by a grenade on the very edge of its radius. REs filled with 'volitile' (sensative to jarring) explosives being slung like rocks skipping across the surface of a lake. Injectors that negate R1 in favor of O,paralyse you in place or make you chase an ally rolling down a hill.
So far CCP you're doing a fabulous job of destroying support. Rep tools were the only things you hadn't completely destroyed,until charlie that is.
Now my job is harder,MLT frames are MUCH better so payouts are frequently MUCH lower as a result. Even being #1 has only paid me 200k ish? And that's with a 1.5k Wp lead! Considering the sum total costs of equipment,and the fact i must sacrifice offense AND defense,you know basically my survival. I feel logistics is broken,badly.
Was banned for fighting for logistics survival on 7/25/2014 02:11. Logistics will never be respected.

L4 burst HMG does 1323 dmg per burst granted if all the shells hit.
yes as a dedicated logi it feels like were now the laughing stock of the dropsuits.. a bit like assault suits were in alpha and bravo updates till Charlie.
i just have my fingers crossed for Delta giving a reprieve to Logi

Logi need..
-more eHP -more "max carried" equipment -ability to replenish equipment from Supply depo's with out having to switch suits -maybe a sidearm for gal/min/cal logi and adjust cpu/pg - +rep distance +rep amount per level on ALL suits* - bug fixes!
*maybe give Minmatar a bonus to Remote Explosive/proximity Mine, as they are the Sappers of the EVE universe. perhaps a +max active +max carried per level
possibly many many more things could/should be done for logi to solidify their role as primary logi instead of Scouts playing at being logi?
equipment do need a hp buff.. as flux nades are designed to take equipment out..
as for Hives.. im disappointed with them as far too many people pop them in seconds from replenishing their Grenades or even standing there and throwing grenades.. this sorely annoys me.. more so when its armor repairing hives (currently im on K-17(r)) i set them up as an armor repairing station yet people use them for more grenades.. i would like to see the armor repairing hives stick around even after the nano-clusters are exhausted.. that way they can still perform their armor repairing function till you place down new ones which have clusters to resupply people...
this would enable a logi to be doing other logi important bits while people can still get some minor reps
or better yet.. remove clusters from armor repairing hives so there is a clear differance ie "nanohive"L1 vs "Compact nanohive"L2 compact repairs armor only..just like adv K-2 for ammo and K17/D for armor reps..as currently the only "just armor rep" hive is the Wiyrkomi proto hive.. so it forces us to make a choice.. some logi might use armor repping hives instead of rep tool this may alleviate difficult situations where repping groups of people or a single person in a group of people would be difficult (due to current rep-tool lock-on difficulties) NO TO THE R.E.S ON MIN, IT WAS A STUPID SUGGESTION THE FIRST TIME IT WAS POSTED,AND IT STILL IS!
No,to everyone using rep tools. Give bonuses less than the racial logistics for each equipment,problem solved.
TBH eHP may be bad considering logistics has a hitbox as big as a HEAVY.
Logis should be more like scouts,evasive and mobile enough to support the advancing frontline. Currently logistics can only keep pace with heavies,and when i squad up with assault users they're like "i have 200 more armor than you yet i'm still faster,that's crazy." Then i hear them say "Need reps badly". While i try my best to get to them in the fastest logi,yet always arrive too late. Or are annihilated by anyone shooting me,i can't tank,rep or evade enough to make the trip. And forget escaping,logistics can't even outrun heavies without a significant loss of tank (scouts kill you after you escape the heavy),but if you have tank of any significance you can't escape from anything.
Yet scouts get 500 armor/shields,++ber regen,hyper fast speeds and wall hacks,broken hit detection,2 weapons and 2 equipment.
I can see why they are popular logistics replacements,because the suit designed for the role has garbage stats and a steep price tag.
And no,logistics doesn't need more offense, it needs more DEFENSE.
It needs to survive to support,not kill to survive.

I hear you man. I'm STOPPED running my Cal logi because:
- It's way too slow - If I put kincats on there I don't have rep because of the CPU upgrade I need for equipment at pro lvl (my suit was robbed from like 60 CPU) - Stamina regen is horrible - Shield regen delay is garbage - Shield modules make my suit even more attractive for the FOTM Amarr assault - Equipment is horribly priced and destroyed easily

My pro logi costs well over 200K but cant sustain any damage. If you take damge you have to retreat but can't keep up with your buddy that you're supposed to rep.

The sky is not falling. This is no worse than 1.7/1.8. Assaults were worse off so they needed the help more.
I do think it's time to consider giving the logis their inherent reps back, however. The buffs to armor rep modules make the old logi bonus not as big a deal as it previously was.

There is a csm thread pertaining to support play and suggestions for rebalance and imrovement. I suggest headed there, reading, liking the suggestions you agree with and giving ideas and feedback without the ranting.
Example: many of us are advocating that the logi role isk cost is disproportionately high.
Join in if you want support roles to improve.
I will cross link momentarily. Give me a sec to find it.

Please constructive post. It is there to provide forum gor improving logi play. Please dont scream about things being OP or ranting about crutches as the topic is buffing logistics. |
