Hey, so, no bullshit we should totally just remove the basic frames or actually make them useful to new players. For realsies.
Assaults got an EHP buff but the basic frames still retain their old values. Which means that a new player (lmfao, like we even care about retaining them at this point) is not only at a disadvantage due to bonuses, but also survivability. Trust me when I say that the Assault buff was welcomed but, in retrospect, it was kind of a stealth buff to veterans.
So, yeah, not going to pussyfoot around with it:
A) Remove them. Seriously, they're pointless. They're just a needless SP sink that apparently gives you a "taste" of what it's like to get your ass repeatedly handed to you. Apart from paying the same amount as a specialized suit (Basic Medium Frame and Standard Assault both cost 3,000 ISK) you're asking players to needlessly invest in something they will never EVER use again once they have the suits they actually want to go into. It's literally 273,600 SP worth of sink and it's not only fairly confusing to a new player, it has absolutely no beneficial, lasting value other than trolling the hell out anyone dumb enough to invest in it to level 5.
B) Make them useful. I've proposed this over and over again. Make them cheaper, give them -one- of the skill bonuses from the specialized suits (racial or some such, I dunno), make them applicable for new players to actually use while they grind their life away to get the SP necessary to train into a specialized suit.
AT THE VERY LEAST kill the level 3 requirement. It's dumb. Why should I have to train into a skill to use advanced basic frames when I'm never going to use the damned things in favor of the suit that actually has bonuses and a legitimate role to play on the battlefield...?

I'm all for option A. Just get rid of the damn things already. I see no reason why anyone should have to dump SP into suits that are just flat out worse than the specialization suits. I feel really bad for anyone who took a basic frame to level 5.
Making them useful would be a decent course to take but that would probably just lead to even more balance issues that will take months on end to sort out. |

And if basic frames get removed, we would most likely get our SP refunded from the basic frame skills so you could easily get an Assault or Commando to lvl 3. |

Psssh, a Scout would do the job better than a basic frame what with two equipment slots and the speed to run up to place REs or AV grenades..

Quite addendum:
Another option would be to just compile the damned things into three skills. Instead of (Racial) Basic (Size) Frame, just Basic (Size) Frame.
Gives new players the opportunity to experience the whole range of different suits in that entire category for a minimal amount of SP investment. So instead of spending 273,000 SP each on Amarr/Caldari/Gallente/Minmatar Basic Medium Frame... You'd just spec into Basic Medium Frame and have access to all of them.

I think you guys are missing his point (not saying yours is invalid either), his SP path is logistics, and when his primary suit is not up to par he's falling back onto using his basic. He puts no other SP into other suits, keeping himself investing in where he wants to be.
