First I should say I've been playing since the Beta with the exception of 5 or so months when I had no console. Short and sweet the team with the most players who have the best gear (I'd assume AUR aquired usually) are guaranteed to win. I think some gear balancing is in order, really makes people I try to get to play it with me (taking turns on a single console 1-2 matches each) not want to play it. They say "It is the most unfair and BS PvP since the start of D.C. Universe Online!" (LvL 80s camping at the LvL 5 mission zones and killing all the new comers) which is also a free to play so maybe its just free to plays in general that are unfair, and the whole letting people who have money buy everything that is good, idk. I like the game and I want to play it more but it frustrates me. I just want to play where everything is on even ground and its a test of skill and teamwork rather than who has the better guns and equipment.

The only pay to win in Dust is buying SP boosters. All gear is attainable via the market or loyalty store. I have taken a squad of 5 RND into matches with 10+ Proto same corp members on the other side, and redlined them. Teamwork > All. Even if your team is full of blueberries, one well coordinated squad can turn the tide, or at least be a huge thorn in the side of the team trying to stomp.

Don't even dare compare Dust to that pay to win bs of a game. They say the game starts at 30 when your at max lvl to be good in pvp but what they don't say is that you have to buy dlcs to get anywhere from that point on. In Dust yes its hard to withstand the pubstomps but that can easily be negated with a proper squad. And aurum is just so you can get the next lvl gear which can be obtained also by sp you gather through matches and passively, in DCUO your just f*cked. So what you need is a good Corp and to get good.

That is false. Better gear doesn't make you a better player. Experience makes you a better player. So just because a player can buy next-level gear with AUR, it doesn't mean they automatically know how to use it right. I have seen plenty of proto users get curbstomped by militia runners.

As the other guy said, don't compare this DCU. The AUR items you see in Dust have ISK and LP variants so it's not required to pay money in order to compete.
The only thing I do agree with you on is that right now we're seeing newbies getting protostomped in one-sided pub matches. The only solution to that is introduce matchmaking which is what everyone has been suggesting.
Also, have you not read any of the archived discussion threads as of late regarding weapon rebalance?

Dust may not be your cup of tea then. Destiny might, it arbitrarily limits your skills and stats for battles in most cases.
One of its core elements is the pursuit of better and better technology, ISK, and higher SP values. These affect the anatomy of the battle for sure.....but its team work and tactics that determine the outcome.

all aurum gear has isk/lp variants that can be acquired provided you have the correct skill lvl. in said item tree and aurum gear is salvageable
they are many militia/standard weapons that perform almost at same level of proto variants such as shotguns and forge guns(for infantry).
remotes are a noobs best friend as they are the bane of all proto users
if you ever played pc you would know that superior tactics/teamwork is the deciding factor.
and finally dcuo has a level cap forcing you to buy dlc/valor packs to progress your character any further, dust does not you can continue to grow your character as much as you want.

I see the points being made the thing I meant about the AUR is they have the better equipment but you dont need any skill prerequeisets to use them I never compared it to D.C. Universe as I said that was what one of my friends said as I tried to get them into Dust my main problem is somehow every time I'll shoot someone with half a clip in the face and no head-shot hit markers and all but then they kill me instantly I know its not my aim because I make it a pretty strong point to gradually move the crosshair up to the face idk maybe its the bullet speed Im not used to i noticed that even at a decent range if you move left and right as you shot you can actually watch your bullets as they fly

No as I said I just got my console again so Im just getting back into to dust and the reason I found the dust forums in the first place was to see why the servers were in V.I.P. mode earlier yesterday I had thought it was only up for paying players or something but I found out the real reason why

VIP mode is CCP and support personnel only. NOT pying customer mode.. when tranquility goes into VIP no one gets on. Not dust or EVE players. |

fully read what I say before commenting, repeating or pointing out things already stated is useless and irrelevant I appreciate the informative responses so thanks to those but for the others I'm not here to argue about how awesome or stupid the game is and never compared it to DCU I didnt say this game is like a FPS DCU I quoted what my friend had said 5 minutes before posting this and I think that was his stab at humor seeing as the games are nothing alike save for the fact that they are both free to play and allow you to purchase boosts and other gear. I yes ME just find it a bit unfair or grueling to new players I myself do pretty decent at the game but like I said multiple times my friends wont play it with me because they get stomped and as we are taking turns I've seen some of the unfair things like the head-shots not registering (even noticed this happening with the sniper rifles) or filling someones chest up with an entire clip only to be killed what seems instantly among other things I did not notice while actually playing maybe unfair isnt the word to use idk and I know its not that my friend sucks because he seems to play just fine some matches but then there are the matches were we experience the things I mentioned and some of those happen even on matches where we do good and win anyway but what Im coming at is imagine how someone inexperienced in fast paced FPSs like say my girlfriend if I wanted her to play with me since she doesnt have her own console (a shared one in her home) she doesnt get much chance to play any games other than here and if I tried to get her to play and she just got stomped all the time she wouldnt want to play it ever all Im sayin is if this was more new player friendly more people could get into this game

The OP is correct most of the wins are carried by Full Squads and more so by Full Squads of Proto-Stompers its sad and rediclious.. if known them to start in standard or advanced and if they start to lose against standard players they go proto cause of their own butthurt.

Correction, they require *less* skill prerequisites. For example you still need a dropsuit to level 3 before you can use the Prototype Level 5 suit. Gear advantages can be annoying, but AUR is hardly the issue. Most veterans don't bother even buying AUR gear because they just skill into the real stuff.
You have the understand that any free to play game with a cash shop architecture must have a certain level of dissatisfaction. That is to say, the game has to sell AUR items in order to survive, and if they AUR items don't offer some sort of advantage, no one would buy them. That being said, AUR items HAVE to give some sort of advantage.
And honestly, Dust has don't a pretty good job at giving AUR gear an advantage, without it being game breaking. As stated before, only thing that could be considered 'pay to win' would be Boosters, but again AUR only offers the advantage to 'get better stuff sooner', which is an advantage that decreases drastically as time goes on and your total SP pool increases. |

Sorry to hear that your freinds who came to try Dust along with you were put off by it, Savage Reaver. In their defense, I will say that Dust is the most BRUTAL treatment on console fps-players that I've ever experienced. And to unprepared, un-warned newcomers, the experince must be a frighening SHOCK (no exagerations). This game humiliated me so much, I decided to learn Dropships partly just to stay clear of getting beaten up so much down there on the dirt.! (Crap!!, would you all please just stop shooting ME!! Na-no---Leave me alone!!! "
But Booby Tuesday's post is probably the most precise and bone-cuttingly frank:
If you don't work WELL with fellow players as a CO-OP (squad, team, whatever you want to call yours), each Dust map is a rampant population of hoodlums and wolves (...actually they're great solo players who worked their royal butts off and earned their royal protos) who will annihilate you,...perpetually,... and quickly.
It's not "unfair" exactly. The guests you invited had no way to know how MUCH teamwork, or at least good buddy-help, is required in these matches to get a victory-screen, or even just to survive. I run around the maps with a Toxin-AR and puny 375 HP protection, and I STILL help secure a match-victories for my side 3-to-2 over the matches I lose each night. ...Just by having learned how to help other blues, or huddle close to them when I need help---and being tenacious when you see a chance to get that Hack.
The only thing that's "unfair" I think, is that we console players never had games like this earlier throughout our (15 year?) console game history. We're not at all used to a true "Win-by-Teamwork" challenge game... it's still evident we are snail-slow at developing that mindset.
And that mindset "wins" Dust matches.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
