You have to time it, if you activate it in the middle of the firefight it does not really give you any benefit, especially against blasters, they seem to stop your shield recharge and this is quite annoying. Take cover or do an evasive manouver, activate it, then go back and rail them.

As if I hadn't figured that out..... but a module should not be so ridiculously finicky. its not like their grandpappy and mammy fail to work mid fight in EVE.... this is not a good gameplay mechanic and quite frankly is ******* annoying.

Sometimes but rarely it activates instantly, more often it activates way later at the end kf the cycle.

I used to run with a heavy shield booster on my Gunnlogi shortly after 1.7. But since then I've replaced it for a heavy extender. Only about 600 shield less but it will never fail me, plus it has much lower fitting requirements and it's passive, meaning I don't have to wait for a cooldown to have the shield available to me.
Though I have recently switched my light shield extender to a light shield booster on my Python. Almost same fitting requirements, but grants almost twice as much shield (if only heavy boosters were the same, I'd totally use them again). It's fun when it works, but I've lost a few Pythons because it never gave me my shield.

Is there any chance that someone in this thread has a video capture card, or has a pal with one and could post up a link to the objectionable behavior so that I can give CCP a direct 'first hand' visual to go with the described problem?

I run gunlogi's a lot and my PC fitting has a Heavy Shield Booster and it's all about timing.
If your not getting any shields it means you took damage as you activated it and or within the 1.00 Sec Pulse interval which gives you the bonus shields
If it was made so that it activated instantly as well as it had no Pulse interval then it could be OP since it gives such a large amount of shields back

Umm not at all, or at least on the HAV side of things prior hotfix bravo damage modded gunlogi's ruled the battle field being able to kill any tank in 3-4 shots
Now it takes much more skill to operate HAV's and if an HAV operator runs an armor tank he is highly immobile unless given a fuel injector but even the Armor HAV's doesn't have a good enough turn speed to out strafe the Shield HAV.

Because my complex heavy extender grants over 1.3k shield (only about 600 shield less), costs about half the PG (of the complex heavy booster), is reliable (no chance of failure), and I don't have to rely on waiting out the cooldown so I can benefit from 600 more shield.

If it was made so that it activated instantly as well as it had no Pulse interval then it could be OP since it gives such a large amount of shields back The point of the shield booster IS to give you instantaneous shield. That's how it works in EVE. Shield boosters provide shield at the beginning of each pulse, while armor reps provide armor at the end of each pulse.

Sadly not everything works in the same fashion in dust as it does in eve however if they made it so it never fails to grant shield it will be just another 1 up for shield tankers which I wouldn't mind since I generally run one now a'days.

It should work instantly.

I will clarify to say compared to 1.8 HAVing takes more skill....... if you could even call what is required skill..... but ever since 1.6....there has not been any skill in HAV operation.

Could you elaborate on why HAV require no skill anymore? I still believe that it still takes a lot of skill, however not as much as it used to.
