Before I start.
I have 31 million sp on this char.
21 million sp on my alt.
18 million sp on my tanker alt.
This is not some secret agenda.
Now, in the interest of newer players having more fun and staying in the game, should proto really take so long to get?.
If they could get it sooner, not only could they 'feel' more competitive, but they'd also know that they'd need to git gud a lot sooner and there'd be less QQ.
I'm all up for it being easier to obtain higher tiered stuff for new players, that or tiericide.
Discuss.
Be vigilant!, for there are those that remove the teabag BEFORE adding milk!.
This is unacceptable!.

It's not the suit. It's the core upgrade that take the most SP. I think if you really want to make newer players competitive at a earlier stage in the game reduce the cost of core skills a little bit. This will protect newer players from going broke with higher tier suits that can fit more modules and cost more ISK to begin with. The suit SP is fine the way it is.
I don't use proto suits that often to be honest. Usually when the other team brings it out. |

this. Core skills are ridiculously overpriced. The gear should be the SP sink, not the basic fitting and armor/shield skills

Proto suits?
Barely used them. I just wanted to have the Quafe Scout as my favorite for warbarge swag.
As for them being more accessible to new users, I don't know about that. We've all had to endure punishment from proto stompers, so why shouldn't they? Not being an ass wipe, I actualy want to know why it should be different for the new guys? |

With the number of alts that people have I don't see the reasons for making it easier , maybe if so many didn't have 3 alts on 2 or 3 accounts then this might warrant some discussion but they way people saturate this game with alts , I think this should not even be discussed .
Just because someone says that their new , doesn't mean that's true ... this is easily a way for people to manipulate the system and power up their alts faster .
I'm not for making it easier for more players with multiple alts to become better faster and proto stomp with multiple characters .
That's all that this discussion will lead to and most know that .
I'm with the mind frame that we all had to go threw it , now do they need better tutorials ... hell yeah to show newer players what materials are important to which race , how to tell the difference and which items would help to play a particular role better or what to focus on .
That would help much more than instant gratification .
Knowledge is power and most newer players jerk off their SP's to begin with if they have no prior knowledge of the game from the shoddy tutorials .
Give them direction and everything else will fall into place .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

I think there are alternatives, that may not be doable for Dust, that would be much better.
PvE, an extended academy, or a Militia/std only mode would be helpful as well.

When you were new there weren't so many proto stompers, as time goes on more and more people get proto and new players coming in have less people in a match they are able to compete fairly with. In theory all a new player has to do is endure until they become a proto stomper as well but i doubt they are going to make it through the first few months without giving up anymore. The vets that say they used to get stomped in beta were getting stomped by people with under 20 mil lol. Proto wolves are of a higher quality these days. |

But they will lack the experience you have obtained in your path to proto. So I would say no. They would complain the proto is not good because they equal the proto as god mode. The long path to proto is a conditioning exercise if you will. I see AUR protos playing recklesssly and without core skills, thinking the proto should compensate for what they havent learned. And we all know the suit doesnt make the man.
I like that about Dust.

Very true that those hard core skills (armor&shld HP, PG&CPU...) are both practically mandatory and SP-intensive. I also favour the direction of evolving those out of dust as they are (but we all should be so happy that there's no longer the blanket weaponry skill 'All Weps +5% damage')
Note on junior player progression though, If they try or they are encouraged to try to get proto suit as soon as possible they are severely misguided. Reasons: - 2M SP for freshman of less than 5M SP is a huge wait in comparison, even though it's only few weeks with boosters. - While waiting for proto suit they are ignoring other skills - If a freshman player does that too soon that is actually the very time while he is thinking 'am I enjoying this game?' - Proto suits with MLT/STD modules and good core skills still do not perform well. It's only isk sink for the player giving him economic difficulties. - STD level suits with good core skills and ADV/CMPX mods perform well
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

Yeah why not, let them get their stuff sooner. That way I think there'd be less QQ because they'd know that they are crap.
The could also 'feel' more competitive.
I think its a win, especially with legion and a whole plethora of 'better' games coming.

Is NPE really an issue any more?
The only thing NPE in this game needs is a message in the tutorial that screams "get out while you still can".
Destiny won't kill Dust.

What's wrong with that though lol.
The sooner that they experience it then the sooner that they will see that they are crap, less QQ and more isk for us.
They get to feel competitive and realise that they need to get good.
