They had a few good tunes, But my review for Load and so on after Black, Is mixed. Some songs I think they threw together & some I think were well played.
But it also accounts mostly on the ears of the listener. I've had friends that said Black album was trash & St. Anger was awesome.
For myself, 90% of Metallica songs that I have in my library concentrate at the Black album and before it.
