I use the ion pistols alot not competitvely but for fun because there is no competition with the ion pistol against a smg.
i had an ion pistol on my heavy forger for close range guys, well a mlt guy comes up and starts shooting me with a smg well he was 22m away and i was ads and my rounds wouldnt reach him.
If we leave the range where it is the damage needs a really nice buff because the only other gun that has shorter range than that is a shotty, and we all know how good they r up close. but that is not the case for the ion pistol.
i have heard good idea's about wat we could do but they would be big changes someone said make it a small shotgun. now before i get a ton of hate threads let me lay out its damage and wat not.
it could have a range of around 8 meters maximum, sorta like the shotty.
it could only fire out 6 pellets instead of the 12 a shotty shoots.
it could do the same damage per pellet as the shotty per tier of course
but it would only have 4 rounds in a clip
that would put the basic at 720 damage a clip, advanced at 768, and proto at 816
which if u think a bout it they cannot kill a heavy with full armor or some assualts.
pretty much u could only kill one assault with a full clip or maybe a few scouts that are not armor stacked.
since i know this is unlikely for ccp to do but would be awesome if u did rattatai. we could just leave it the way it is and give it a REALLY nice damge buff for such a short range.
pls keep hate threads to minimum. just trying to be constructive and make this game a little funner.

Everything thing else I'd say no to but we are in agreement that the Ion Pistol is in a desperate need of a buff.
If you have a weapon, that can only operate at one range it needs to be damn good at what it does in that range.
I think CCP fails to realise this about Short Ranged Weapons.
I always thought the Ion Pistol could stand to be Automatic.
12 rounds in a clip still but it fires off with a rapid RoF, thus increasing DPS, which is what Gallente is all about.
