GÇ£As you go into lower security systems, CONCORD canGÇÖt protect you and friendly fire is enabled. YouGÇÖll have to watch out, even for your own friends. In highsec we tell you when people enter the zone, but in lowsec we wonGÇÖt say a word. We want to create that sense of being scared.GÇ¥ Get your loot and get out before someone shoots you, then. I for one -LOVE- that feeling of uncertainty and I think it'd make for some really interesting tactical play, especially for players who are more prone to low-profile and/or cloaking (not just Scouts mind you, I run that sort of thing on my Assault). Just as well, I think it'd be really awesome to struggle to fight a tougher AI enemy and get help from someone I didn't even know was in the area.
There's also some hinting at "huge maps" which makes me recall the whole aspect of how Dust 514 maps are all segments of much larger maps, so I'm wondering if they just gave a hint toward those maps being the basis for Salvage Fields..?
Speculation and crystal balling aside, this is pretty bad***.

I too like that feeling. That is why I moved to Low Sec in my first week of playing EVE.
I expect they will use the DUST maps. They are already created, and it was a modified version of an existing DUST map we saw in the demo. It will save them time to reuse the old maps, and they are certainly vary large maps. The three newest DUST district maps (Fractured Road, Border Gulch, and Impact Ridge) are all from the same larger map, and Manis Peak and Skim Junction maps actually overlap (The South MCC from Manis Peak is over the North East ridge in Skim Junction).
I am not sure how many of the larger maps they have. At least 3, but they might have 4 or 5. I was not able to identify overlap on the other district maps.

Ashland is part of the same map as Manus Peak and Skim Junction, I believe.
But yeah, I would love to see Salvage Fields be a part of this: http://i.imgur.com/CaZffIg.jpg

I certainly know I would love that.
I see so much rooms for vehicles to come into their own.
Scenario: A Squad/Fireteam from PLCLAS deploys to a low sec region like Arzad, we select our District and head to the ground. We appear at a CRU on the southern section of the above map.
We know the looting ground are within the Gallente Research Facility. Aero calls in a Dropship and ferries the squad over from the CRU to the loot grounds.
I call in my Salvager vehicle (or whatever it is) and got to work salvaging while the rest of the squad keeps an eye out for enemies.
A wild bunch of ..... I dunno XxDicklordcorporationxX appears and starts looting on our ground...... we give them fair warning.
A battle breaks out over the loot..... meanwhile watching all of this with a sadistic grin on his face is the CEO of a pirate corp.... out to steal out loot and kill us......
Sounds like a ball.

I think we should be able to carry only a vary limited amount of loot, so to get a big hull of loot out of the Salvage grounds we should need a vehicle to carry it. This gives a purpose to vehicles for carrying loot, which in turn gives a purpose to other vehicles for taking out vehicles which are carrying loot, so that you can steal the loot.
I suggest that loot should be carefully packaged up for transport so that it does not get damaged if anything unforeseen happens during transport.

Loot should be like Eve, if you want more you need to skill in to suits that can deploy a cargo container with x slots to hold loot or skill into transport vehicles that also can carry x amount including the cargo containers and you must be able to drive them to a secondary location before you can just recall the vehicle with all the stuff, like in eve to a station. This would be kl as you would need to get a convo going with guards or run the risk like in eve mining on your own and then as you turn to take your loot someone ambushes you for your stuff. |

I find that amusing that is all you can take from what i said... Firstly No, I did before I could get a larger ship or mined with a squad. In Legion however, that is the idea that should be used, deployable containers that the enemy cant just take your loot from, but they have to hack it to get what's in side, giving you a chance to get back to it if killed, or the use of mobile barges later on once you are skilled enough to use one, that can be used when in squad. |
