I use it because I like black. The OCD is forcing me to have a black gun with a black dropsuit (Ck.0). Blue is ugly.
That, and I can afford spamming proto.

Well yeah its my crutch. While playing as a scout.....
I can barely have 300 total EHP with all the E-war modules i use.If i'd go ADV or STD i would run with core EHP. ( 160ish armor / 87 shields)
Having +100HP is worth the ISK. IMO....
The best Damage mod is a HEADSHOT....

Actually, most players use PRO gear (at least where Dropsuits are concerned) for the high slot count.
People like the ability to customize their suit to how they see fit, and STD (and some ADV suits) don't have slots which allow them to do that. For example, a good melee suit can be made with Assault mk.0, but you'll fail terribly if you try using it with Assault M-1 or Assault M/1-Series.
Then, there are some who use it for the cosmetic features. Though that seems a bit counterproductive considering how you can't see anything beyond your hands in most situations, as this is an FPS title.
