As many people have said and as I agree. The weapon we all know as the Plasma Cannon is the hardest weapon to get used to. Notice, I said get used to. The Plasma Cannon is NOT a hard gun to use after you get over its reputation. Let's get into it. (Keep in mind this is from experience of using the Plasma Cannon for more than a year).
First Tip: A Heavy with a Plasma Cannon is not a good idea. The first thing someone thinks when using the Plasma Cannon is "Since its a bad gun if I hide behind some extra armor it should be easier". That is wrong. My first choice for the Plasma Cannon was a Gallente Assault gk.0 get this straight it was not easy. I barely was able to get kills. At that point in time I would go negative. But I didn't give up, neither should you. (Maybe just a little but was influenced by the SP spent on Proficiency 5, Ammo 5, and Reload 5).
Second Tip: The second choice. My second Suit choice for the Plasma Cannon was a Caldari Scout with a Nanohive and Cloak. This was my most successful choice. Using the Plasma Cannon, you will need a lot of Mobility. Before you tell me this is terrible advice, after the third day of using this setup you will be good enough to stop blowing yourself up. I can't count how many times I've blown myself up, but my effort made it count.
Third Tip: When your about to use my advice, get a cup of water. Relax yourself. Because you WILL rage. Trust me. If you know you rage a lot, the Plasma Cannon honestly is not the Weapon for you.
Fourth Tip: Balls Deep. This means to be with bravery, not being scared of anything. This applies when your facing a Heavy. Just go up to that Fatty and go (Bang Bang). I wasn't scared to face Heavies and that is a key factor.
Fifth Tip: Pick your battles. Don't go up to five guys with a Plasma Cannon and fire away. I can almost garuntee you will die. You cannot count (almost posted ***** lucky I spotted my spelling error) on Splash damage to kill with this weapon. And if you didn't notice the standard Plasma Cannon (no ammo skills) has 10 Rounds (including the Pre-loaded 1).
Sixth Tip: Pick your Battles. (No I did not post the same tip twice). In this tip, I really mean pick the Game mode that is the most fitting to the Plasma Cannon. That game mode would be Skirmish. The objective of Skirmish is to hack the objectives. The Plasma Cannon (In my opinion) is the absolute best defensive weapon as you can protect points very well. Most people that hack objectives won't be able to withstand 1 shot from the Plasma Cannon. I find myself going 20+ kills to 5- Deaths every match only using my new favorite gun.
Good & Bad Suits for the PC(Plasma Cannon):
Bad: As I said in the beginning and I will say again, you will get no-where with a Heavy + a Plasma Cannon. Assault suits don't do worse than Heavies but are barely scraping average. Logi, please don't try it and be like "I'm gonna be the first one to Logi + Plasma Cannon". You will grow grey hairs.
Good: Caldari Scout, very mobile and you need the fast Shield regeneration. You could also use 4 Prec. Enhancers and you will be a Scouts worst nightmare as Splash Damage can kill most Scouts and bring 100% to close to no health. Direct hits will 1 hit K.O. The Gal Scout is very good for the Plasma Cannon as you need to Weave in and out of various situations and with the Complex Kincats (Kinetic Catalyzer) and Cardiac Regulators can be stacked and are very useful.
Hope you liked this Guide to using my favorite weapon. I'm sorry to all the people that will experience the terror of my Fed. Allotek or Normal Allotek Cannon. I do all of this Plasma using on my character ut0pia as it was specially made just to use the Plasma Cannon. Thank you, if you made it to the end of this Guide :)

I'd like to add my own points, from my experience;
If you're taking a shot from long range (say, around AR range) then aim higher. The shots arc and will drop, so aim high and you'll get your target. I've been able to get kills at over 90M by aiming up about 50% of the target's body height (IIRC I've tagged an unaware Sniper dead on from about 110M this way, after a couple of trial shots to compensate for the hill.) This is true for aiming from up high as well.
Gallente Commando is perhaps the only Heavy suit where the Plasma Cannon works well against Infantry, since it gets (at max) +10% damage and a reload bonus. The basic Plasma can take out Advance level Sentinels and below in one direct hit and the splash can be the bane of E-War Scouts at close range. A Proto Plasma Cannon, with or without Proficiency, can one shot a Bricked out Gallente Sentinel if you have the maximum Gal Commando level and you hit shields dead on. Back it up with an AR, RR or CR (or even a MD) to follow up and clean up a survivor.
Kills by a Plasma Cannon instantly terminate clones. It makes Protos rage.
Plasma Cannon is, by design, a close range AV weapon that's strongest against shields. Putting one on a Minmitar Commando and then backing it up with a Swarm can do some serious damage against a HAV. I'll solo Soma and Sica no problem, and can do well against Madrugers and Gunnlogi's (depending on the fitting, of course)
I used to be a Squad Lead like you, but then I took a Thale's to the knee.

Galente commando level 5( weapon reload speed and plasma dmg increase)
Plasma cannon proficiency and reload speed to 5
Please remember that reload speed= fire rate for this weapon VERY IMPORTANT
These together will help you **** the field.

You forget I have used the Plasma since I joined Dust. I understand how it was works and I don't mean to sound cocky but I don't believe anyone knows better. My Plasma Cannon Skill tree is capped out btw.

While your guide points out obvious advantages and disadvantages of certain suits I don't feel it does justice to the PLC itself.
I used the PLC on a Gallente Logi back when armor tanking sucked and I did fairly well with it (even without fully skilling it). It all depends on how you use it. You could use it aggressively or defensively, it's actually more about positioning yourself well and learning on how to aim the PLC on idling or moving targets in close-range and long-range (more trickier) shots. NOT skilling up the PLC-skill-tree could actually improve your PLC skills faster as you can't rely on that extra shot. It's not really a rocket science you just need to get used to it which can only be done by practice.
When you are starting out, focus on picking out your target, go for the idling ones. Make sure you can get in cover after you make your shot. Practice both short and long range (aim higher for longer distances). You could also wait for reds to run around a corner/doorway to pop them, this gives you a little bit more confidence/lauhgs/feeling for the weapon. You don't need enemies to practice your aiming, use your environment/red equipment to learn the aiming.
After that you can decide if you want to skill up the PLC further or not.
A cloak is not necessary, it will only eat more CPU of your suit.
If you find yourself dying from your own shots, try shooting from a greater distance or use a jump-shot.

The only reason why you write "I don't mean to sound cocky" is because you are. Using the PLC since you joined DUST and maxing it's skill tree doesn't suddenly make you the expert. |

Well, I'm sorry I'm not prepping people to play a whole match searching for inactive enemys. Do you think that's the right way to use it? By defensive you mean play scared. The plasma cannon is a very bold weapon. You're supposed to play aggressive. And btw I think for someone that has been using it for a longer time opposed to someone that looks as if he has been using it for 2 days. I think we can both tell who may know more about that certain subject. Read over it again, I said you may find yourself dying from your own shots for a while. I did not quite say that I do. Just because my skilltree is capped doesn't mean I go around with an Allotek Cannon and blast people, I use the KLA and the basic cannons too.

You obviously missed out these words "When you are starting out". With idling enemies I mean enemies that stand still not inactive enemies. I'm just making this guide useful by explaining how people new to the PLC can improve their aiming with it (which to me seems where most people struggle with, not the choosing of a specific suit that's a whole guide on it's own).
Quote:By defensive you mean play scared. The plasma cannon is a very bold weapon. You're supposed to play aggressive. Again you try to frame my sentences differently. I just looked up the word defensive in the dictionary and it didn't mentioned anything involving the word scared.
About the 'play aggressive'-part. No. You can perfectly hold an area by popping out, taking a shot and getting in cover to hold of the enemy...in other words defensively. You could also take on 5 guys when running in a scout suit. Surprise them by popping one, retreat, go back and repeat. Retreating has been a tactical advantage in warfare for god knows how long, but feel free to call it a tactic for pussies that are too scared.
Quote:And btw I think for someone that has been using it for a longer time opposed to someone that looks as if he has been using it for 2 days. Prove to me that I'm just using it two days? Stop trying to imply things that aren't true...it makes you look stupid. BTW you telling us that your second choice for a suit was the Caldari scout really makes me doubt about the "I've been using the PLC for a longer time than everyone else"-stuff you are claiming.

I did not say you were using it for 2 days I said that looks as if. + your " addition" looked pretty hostile and I absolutely suggest that you go ahead and make your own Guide. If you want your opinion seen, then seperate it from mine on your own topic. And a dictionary is meant to use absolutely 0% common sense in order to dumb things down for the people with lower mental aptitude. You however if not just a robot were made with common sense hence why I thought you were smart enough to take my meaning.

Its not about adding opinions. I enjoy different opinions but the way you are twisting my words, being rude, and being immature is not welcome. Look back at your first post and read it to yourself and tell me if you think that is the most proper etiquette that you could have chosen.

How can you enjoy different opinions after saying "I don't believe anyone knows better"? Maybe you are just the rude immature one that can't take any criticism that only likes sugarcoated responses which is probably the only reason why you felt my post was hostile.
Obviously I don't see what's wrong with my initial post and I don't see how I'm twisting your words either, but I'll give you a chance to clearly explain yourself. |

Say your mom tells you, I know what's best for you. That's the case it was said in. Then again I would've believed with the argument youre making that you're smart enough to take home the real point but I guess you're not. So let me dumb it down for you. N-o-t e-v-e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e can pick up a Plasma Cannon and immediately know how to use it. So there may be other advice on it, but its a suggestion to follow my advice and see how it goes. Now if I were using your mentality, I would say: That's ******** to put a Plasma Cannon on a Logi suit because that's stupid.

I asked you to show me how I'm twisting your words and this is what you come up with?
I don't really see how that mentality belongs to me. You're the one claiming that the only way for PLCs are to use them aggressively and it's stupid to use them defensively. You even say things like "By defensive you mean play scared"...how do YOU even know what I mean? and I'm supposed to be the one twisting peoples words? . You don't even address why defensive play doesn't work while I gave some small examples..yeah I guess you really got my mentally down to the point .
Also funny how you take 'logi + PLC = stupid' as example as I clearly said I used to use that combo before .
ughh...there are either some language barriers or you are just some big troll...either way I'm done with you, I guess people who read this thread can make up their own mind if mine and other "additions" are just whack.
