There are 5 equipment skills
Active Scanning Uplinks Nanocircuitry Repair Tool Hacking
Cloaks are equipment, but they are essentially limited to scouts. Electronics and Engineering are passive and don't gain you points directly. Remote Explosives are weapons.

So Active Scanning got nerfed a while back. I remember the spinning got cut and I didn't realize it until recently. but active scanners can only be seen by squad mates. The only way to get points is if you scan and while the target is visible one of your squad mates kills one of the targets, your scan lit up, you get 15 points.
Uplinks allow folks to spawn here instead of one of the main spawn points. You get 25 points for each person that uses your uplink.
Nanocircuitry have two equipment items associated with it, Nanohives and the Nanite Injectors. The Nanohives you drop and get 10 pts every time one of your teammates runs by it and needs ammo. There are two that also repair armor. The Nanite Injectors revive a player with 30-50-80% of your armor repaired and right now you get 60 pts. But I've read in another thread that the figures are changing, each level will have it's own point allotment.
Hacking / code breaking equipment doesn't actually fit in the equipment slots they are in the Low slots, so equipment yes and no. 50 or 100 points and less that for being 2nd person or 3rd person assisting a Hack.
Now the Repair Tool has two functions. Repairs armor, both for players and vehicles and as a guardian function, repairing while in combat. Healing/Triage gets you 25 pts per 50(?100?) armor points? 25% of armor points? I don't know honestly. Second you get 35 points if the person you are repairing/healing/triaging kills another player.
Now I asked in a thread earlier this month and some folks replied said that 2 or 3 people can be Guarding one player and get full 35 points. I assume they are correct.

This last item seems to be how some squads are racking up Orbital strikes. A couple of players with repair tools and Nanite Injectors guard a Heavy with a HMG in an Ambush or OMS, add a player with a scanner finding targets. They rack up all kinds of points, and drop a couple of OB's on the opposing team once they get to 10 men or less. So a squad that kills one Red can get 50 points for killing the Red, 35 points per guardian (say 2 for 70 points) and 15 points for the scanner, 135 points per kill and then the non guardians could have been shooting the same Red so 25 points per Kill Assist. So add in 3 assists and you could get 210 points per kill. And because they are efficient, if one of them dies they heal their squad mate and triage him/her, getting more points.

Anyhow, back to the original topic equipment.
I don't know how to even things out. Active Scanners only get points in Squads. It might help you kill someone or target someone or out a cloaked player while player solo, but you don't get any points for it. I don't know what's possible.
Is it possible to make an active scanner not light up the whole other team like a Christmas tree, but say give everyone on your team a 10 meter active look? So like a 10 meter circle around each player on your team in your scan area? And then if someone kills one of those guys you get 5 points.
Or maybe cut the Visible info in half for Team mates that are not in your squad? So a 200 meter Active Scanner would provide all of the data you can see to everyone else, but only the first 100 meters of it.
Does scanning a cloaked player end it's cloak? Even if it does, you don't get any points for it.
??
Also reduce the amount of healing that more than one Repair Tool offers players. So maybe cut the Guardian points from 35 to 15/20 if more than one person is Guarding a single teammate?? What about cutting the actual healing, what is it for 1st level repair tool 45 pts / per second, if two are healing it, maybe cut it in 1/3 to 30 points per second, from each of them (so 60 per second if 2 instead of 90).
How many people have to be shooting a Heavy to kill it, if two people are actively Guarding it with just first level repair tools? If they emptied their full AR clips into the Heavy would it kill it? would 2 or 3 people be required? I know it depends on the armor the Heavy has and any bonuses the shooters have through Damage Bonus equipment or AR skill bonuses.
CCP can do the math. Is this what you envisioned when you did these things?
Right now it seems like you have to kill the Guardians first and then the Heavy. Which requires some coordination on the Blue side. Squad required? Mic required?
I don't know, maybe light up in a halo both the receiver and giver of Guardian status. Kinda like charged Scrambler Rifles or Forge Guns. So it's clear what's happening, the little yellow line can't always be seen.
Side note, when you are the person receiving the healing, light up your HUD please. I seem to remember that this used to be how it worked.
Oh well, repair tools are more valuable than any other equipment item. The scanner seems to be the worst, but can change the activity of the other team the most, but I don't get any points for it unless I'm in a squad and my squad mate kills someone.
Thanks for reading this. |

You used to get points for hacking enemy vehicles. No longer. And I never understood the logic why you don't get points. |

The logic behind why no points are given is because is can get heavily exploited by synchronize teams taking turns to hack and counter hack said vehicles in an isolated area from the rest of the game. Something like getting a friend on the other team to kill a blueberry while you revive him/her only for your friend to do it again and then you revive... etc etc
Noob isn't really a status, it's the online equivalent of a 5-year old calling you a poopy fart head.

you get points from killing people. Scanning helps identify targets so you can get the jump on them. I find I don't really get a lot of intel kill assists when in a squad, but I know how useful it is to my team mates and get more than my share of wp from the rep tool i carry, so don't worry to much about the less wp from scanning. |

Not all equipment should reap the same WP.
The equipment WP tends to favour teamwork and more so for equipment that can only help another player ie reppers and injectors vs nanohives (you cannot use the first two on yourself).

Yup it is the players fault, not CCP's inability to code in a fail safe. |
