This isn't a whiny "I'm gone forever" post, I'm not going to tell CCP I hate them or that I regret playing the game. It's been a great ride. I also know posting a 'leaving' post is redundant, but as I once held myself to be strong player in the game I feel I'd like to leave something official. I don't like to drift out of something, I'd rather wave goodbye!
This game is really something else, or at least it was. I've been playing it predominantly for going on 2 and a bit years now, since the first week of closed Beta. Through all the updates and all the stages I've seen players rise and fall, clans form and then tear themselves apart. It's been a great 2 years and has also partially ruined my online gaming experience forever because I can't find anything else that engages me in the multiplayer sense as much as this game has. That is, I'll get pretty bored pretty quickly of almost every other FPS game. I think you can't call yourself a veteran of this game until you've very much established the 'love/hate' relationship. We all hate this game with a passion, if you don't then you must be new, and it is therefore very hard to drop. However, recently I took a trip with my friends to Amsterdam for a week. This was the longest I had not played Dust for a very long time (Bear in mind I had exams coming up, so I had no time to go out for long periods of longer than a few days!) and when I came back I realised just how much I DIDN'T miss it. I got back on and it was terrible.
When I came back I saw the game through the eyes of someone who had just picked it up. It made me feel a little silly for ever getting so involved.
However, that being said, as I mentioned before the gaming experiences I've had through this game and the opportunities it has brought to my clan (Which I'm NOT the CEO of, btw) I cannot regret. My clan is, really, the ONLY reason I've loved and played this game as long as I have. So a huge thanks to my CEO Dangaboi, and my fellow ranking officers Nerfnut, Queen and Ftwelve as well as my two bestest gaming buds Reign Omega and Ronin2u <3 And to Octavius, Roman and Zatara thank you for getting me as involved in PC as you all did.
Burgezz never was a 'Huge thing' in this game. In the sense that we never were top dog, albeit we had many opportunities to become it. Hell, we produced some of the best known and best underground players in this game. Bob for example, Radar is another. Raf084 is still to this day the best slayer I've ever seen in the game. Our objective was always to exist and move forward, but we let slip some opportunities and did not push as hard as we may have. However, I can say we've certainly outlasted the majority of clans that came/formed in the game and we leave with not only the same leadership team as we entered, but with a more active player base stretching some 500 members over different games. We will continue to play Dust as a clan and we cannot be counted out just yet, Burgezz will always, always be here.
Later this year I'll be taking a gap year out before uni, travelling to Fiji, New Zealand/Aus and Asia. Can't wait, and it feels good to have something to look forward to other than playing games!
BUT anyway, enough rambling. I understand it is not cared for in the War Room of all places
I just thought I'd say a few words explaining my retirement.
No-one can have my ISK aside from my corporation for competitive efforts!
I may play a game or two if a friend wants to catch up, but I will no longer actively play. I am finally done. This is not knee jerk (Looking at you, Jon ) And of course, I'll still check the forums. There's some entertainment here yet!!
If you wanna chill, just come to www.843.enjin.com and we can talk xox
Now please, insult me in a true War room fashion

o7 warrior, retirement does have it's beauties.
I too found that I really don't miss this dysfunctional game after two years and discovered other games that are fun and relaxing, what gaming should be.
Alas, there will always be a fond memory of this game for me and the friends that have moved on to other games with me.
Enjoy retirement and have fun on other games,

If I had an important PC coming up..you were the first to recieve a message from me. Was always a pleasure having you on the team. When I was gone for 2 months on my Infantry Sgts course...it was like a veil was lifted about this game. The only reason I came back on...was for the people I played with. You are right tho..no matter how much we sometimes hate this game...we love the idea of how great it could become. Player interaction is HUGE compared to others. We remember each others names...and our deeds.
You will be missed, and its a shame these past few months weve been on opposing teams. Much respect.

I know I'm late, and a scrub, and on vacation BUT!
I've been gone a month, just the same as last year, and really the only things I miss about dust are editing my fittings...and 843. I havent ever been in a "clan" as much as the people I have played games, and FPS games specifically with have always been IRL friends.
I got a good whooping from Bane back in june of last year, right about the time I thought I was finally getting good, and that led me into the dreaded "843 Boot Camp", which I didn't mind but that's a separate story. Then I went home for a month like I do every year, and didn't get to play much with the group.
To keep it brief, I have learned a lot from this dude, have kicked major ass and have had tons of fun. I'm seeing more and more people I have enjoyed playing with and against kick the proverbial bucket, and I agree it's hard to keep optimistic without the promise of evolution.
Anyhow man, it's been a hell of a ride, and I'm sure we will be shooting it out on whatever is available, but definitely get your young ass out of the box and go see all that world, before you're old...and fat...and weird looking.

And to add, you don't retire from video games, you just quit playing. There are no watches given away or pretty cars for time served.

I understand it is not cared for in the War Room of all places I just thought I'd say a few words explaining my retirement. Never claimed we did dominate the game.
You dominated a terrible, broken, unbalanced, lobby shooter that takes no real skill. Hence why the real dominators left a long time ago. Your clan is now dead. My clan thrives in more than 4 different games and over 650 members. GG.
You still play the game big?

hell no, I quit playing right after Fan Fest. But to say we folded is completely wrong. Most of our guys went to LoL and from what I heard we have a showing in Destiny. Not sure, I don't log in to the PSN anymore.
I wouldn't call the sunset the forums, but sense you mentioned it..yeah, just like that!!
