I am genuinely curious, since Dramafest 2014 I pretty much stopped playing but still kinda miss it.
What brings you guys back to a game that requires the time investment that Dust requires when it has a definite and loomong sell by date and all of this 'effort' will be made moot.
Have their been any concrete confirmations on character transfer as well as BPOs to Legion?
I've been here since Skirm 1.0 so I have seen everything too :P I miss the old dropships that you could use to squish mercs.. they were great!
Bonus Question: Do you still buy Aurum and why? |

Because I find it entertaining.
And there can't be any definite answer to anything for Legion because it's so far in the future, but CCP Logibro(?) has expressed a desire to "compensate" (for lack of a better term) Dust players into Legion. It's possible it's not a 1:1 transfer of assets and SP because of the changes, but I'm sure we'll get something.
And no, I still have like a year worth of passives I need to burn throughGǪ |

Haven't really been playing all that much, but still coming back every other day or so for a match or two. The game has just gotten kind of stale at this point, and the main reason I still play it is, I suppose, because there's nothing else on the market that really catches my fancy... or maybe I'm just addicted to my Nova Knives.
Haven't purchases Aurum in a long, long time, and likely never will again as there's nothing left in the game I truly want to unlock, so boosters are moot. It does make me chuckle though, seeing how much CCP has lowered the pricing of Aurum weapons.
Nova Knives are best sidearm.

I have still got a year of passives and actives and about 10 Omegas to use up aswell, not to mention 40k aurum still on my merc :S Like you say I don't see anything I'd want to buy at this point as I have everything!
The only things I felt like I needed were the BPOs but they killed those :(
Shame about the lack of any concrete answer over legion! |

Been playing for a long time and still find it entertaining. Yeah fanfest caused a lot of QQ (all for a good reason), and yeah the game is still broken (though CCP Rattati is trying to fix it up with duct tape (I think he might be secretly Matari)), but I'm still here. Occasionally drunk, but I'm still here.

Fixed.
Anyway unlike you, I'm a real gamer. None of the effort I put into my games is ever wasted, because it's fun and it keeps my brain stimulated. The more I commit to a game, the more I like it and the more I will take the experiences from it with me into the rest of my life.
I've beaten Metroid and Zelda games and collected the same power ups and completed the same levels countless times, but none of it was ever wasted effort. Even when the save files got deleted.
CCP, I thought I was going to start liking you again. I really did. Then you announced this event.

Dust is the only online fps that kept me interested. Spent a year building this character, getting my a** kicked a lot along the way. Will use up all the ISK and gear that I accumulated. Will play until it's not my choice anymore, or at least until Destiny comes out in full force.

I really hope they can keep up with the cheaters on Legion.

Im here over a year now. And im staying here because :
1. Theres no other game like dust. I like it no matter if its unbalanced etc. I hate CoD style games and all these pc fps (i played A.V.A. for 3 years so i know what im saying) where you just go in tight spaces and few shoot everyone.
2. Comunnity (especialy polish). I like running in squad and have a talk. Thats actualy big deal, because playing alone is little boring, no matter what game it is.

I started playing a short time before FanFest so for me there was no reason to quit playing, I hadn't amassed any large pools of SP anyway. I don't spend money on the game and if it gets shut down in 6 months then so be it, there are other games I can play. I only play a handful of games every 1-2 days anyway and maybe on a day off a little more. I'm not in a corp and have no planetary assets to lose.. In short, for me there is no reason not to have fun :) |

As do we. SP are just SP. If somone spend some money for aurum then it doesnt matter, because cmon, you were playing f2p game this whole time and i dont regret it :].
Having a good channel, this is it. Corp, PC, ISK, doesnt matter. Squad up, talk.

The question is; what is long time for a game life?
PS3 is what 6 years old... DUST has already been on it for 2 years starting alpha. And will be here next year this time.
DUST will almost have existed for half the life cycle of the PS3. And continued to get added to and defined.
How many games have we bought for 60 bux played for a week, beat it. then it sat on your self... and is still sitting there collecting dust. DUST is far from perfect but there has always been effort put in toadd to and make better.
Sure fanfest marked a point where CCP Shanghai was not committing to client side updates. But we have still got MLT weapon variants added, alot of quality balance tweaks that have been talked about for 6 months+ And even Dev's saying that a client side patch isn't completely out of the question.
While having CCP Rouge actually make an announcement on what specifically would get transfered over to legion he would see a return in consumer confidence investing into the DUST 514 experience.. But that is the hardest questions he will have to answer about legion. There is no harder question that he has to deal with.
CCP Rouge said specifically that CCP doesnt leave gamers behind. This is what Hilmar told him and is the central focus around creating Legion. But really it is a hard question. How do you bring 50m SP toons over.
And at no point should BPO's be considered to even exist in Legion. Other then a player crafting and trading system. Single handedly the worse thing ever added to this game for economy and the legitimacy of loss in DUST. We will get more then what we payed for out of them in DUST 514. |

If you miss it, you obviously enjoyed it at some time? Forget CCPs FUBAR attempt at Fanfest, and just enjoy the game now
I play because it's fun... No more, no less. If something gets transferred to Legion, then fine (would like to keep my name though)
At your last question, I have bought AURUM after Fanfest (although I did go Unboosted for a while). Those passive OMEGA boosters were very very (read: too) tempting to resist. It should be noted that I only pay AUR for the enjoyment I get now, not potentially later.... |

I played 2 matches after the Rouge Wedding and then biomassed. I honestly can't fathom the mindset of those who keep playing. It was like kicking an addiction, but since the drug no longer offered the kick, it was really the only option.
I don't understand what the appeal of the game is, now that it's just another lobby shooter. And I especially don't understand how people are still happy to put their time and money behind a company that has such a track record of fuckwittery and arseholery.
For those curious; I'm still on the forums because everybody slows down to look at the car wreck.

I don't really play Dust 514 all that much anymore. When I do, it is to play around with the new hotfixes. Most of the time I just login, check my unallocated SP, spend it if I have enough, then log out.
I would play more if we had PvE, better matchmaking, and/or new game modes (skirm, dom, and ambush are very old).

I've stopped playing while the Destiny Beta is running, plan to start again between the time it ends and the time Destiny proper launches, and then stop once more.
I still really enjoy Dust--the PVP is dope, much better than my first taste of Destiny's PVP. But boy oh boy do I love that PVE! Also, I imagine my Destiny PVP experience will improve as I improve skills, gear, strategies, group up with folks, and memorize the maps. |

i was intrigued by all the nerfs, how they made the game such a success and i look forward to experiencing more of these.. also excited for the PVE raid system of players vs large turret installation this should draw quite a crowd and replenish our numbers, we might even be able to finally compete with EVE's population.

Do these turrets move? If not that sounds like the most boring game mode in existence. If you meant the drone pve stuff pretty sure that was scrapped with everything else that wasn't implemented.
As to why I play this game. It's the hotfixes. The game has been a lot more balanced since Rattatai has taken the reigns since at least uprising ever was (wasn't here for Beta). And hotfix charlie is looking to keep the balancing coming with making assaults relevant again after fixing heavies and scouts.
I never minded that this game was a lobby shooter. It was pretty clear from the get go that it was going to be a lobby shooter. I'm not convinced that Legion WON'T be a lobby shooter. It will shirk some of the limitations dust had like player counts for sure. But ultimately it will still probably be a battlefield game, with an auto matchmaking lobby on a megaserver. To be honest I don't know why anyone says otherwise. Nobody has made a multiplayer shooter that didn't revolve around joining a game together launched from some interface resembling a lobby.
Not too mention most the proto stomping has been minimilized as many of the vets quit. And likewise I've seen more new players. So I will still maintain that it was the toxicity of the matchmaking that killed the popularity of this game, since more new players are flooding in and staying in spite of all the vets that made a mass exodus.
Hopefully we are ready to admit as a community, though I doubt it, that it isn't fun getting owned match after match by guys that not only are better at the game then you (Which actually inspires players to "git gud"), but also that the wealth and gear disparity killed the fun. But from what I gather most the vet players this was their first rodeo and they were new to the lobby shooter genre coming straight from Eve. And although these things work well in an open world mmo, it does not work well in a confined lobby shooter. |

I dunno, invested in the game and enjoy it so why not? I bought bf4, enjoyed it but lost interest real fast and for me personally that's the only other alternative to DUST.
