Do these turrets move? If not that sounds like the most boring game mode in existence. If you meant the drone pve stuff pretty sure that was scrapped with everything else that wasn't implemented.
As to why I play this game. It's the hotfixes. The game has been a lot more balanced since Rattatai has taken the reigns since at least uprising ever was (wasn't here for Beta). And hotfix charlie is looking to keep the balancing coming with making assaults relevant again after fixing heavies and scouts.
I never minded that this game was a lobby shooter. It was pretty clear from the get go that it was going to be a lobby shooter. I'm not convinced that Legion WON'T be a lobby shooter. It will shirk some of the limitations dust had like player counts for sure. But ultimately it will still probably be a battlefield game, with an auto matchmaking lobby on a megaserver. To be honest I don't know why anyone says otherwise. Nobody has made a multiplayer shooter that didn't revolve around joining a game together launched from some interface resembling a lobby.
Not too mention most the proto stomping has been minimilized as many of the vets quit. And likewise I've seen more new players. So I will still maintain that it was the toxicity of the matchmaking that killed the popularity of this game, since more new players are flooding in and staying in spite of all the vets that made a mass exodus.
Hopefully we are ready to admit as a community, though I doubt it, that it isn't fun getting owned match after match by guys that not only are better at the game then you (Which actually inspires players to "git gud"), but also that the wealth and gear disparity killed the fun. But from what I gather most the vet players this was their first rodeo and they were new to the lobby shooter genre coming straight from Eve. And although these things work well in an open world mmo, it does not work well in a confined lobby shooter.
