After playing the Destiny Beta, one of the things I found refreshing is playing a game in full color. DUST is so blue/black, I wonder if the designers were green/red color blind?
I know there are some uses of red, but I don't ever remember seeing green in the game. Anyway, was nice to get back into a game with more appealing visuals.

DUST 514, where the color palette has about the same complexity as an Xbobx Fanboy's vocabulary.

But here's the odd thing though.
This game actually had A LOT more color back in beta than we do now.
You had uniquely colored suits, albeit not as many as we have now but they were so well colored that it made up for it.
You had maps that were covered in snow/ash to give it a different feel. There were even night maps were you couldn't see **** in the very early days (back when hit detection was the lolest thing ever).
PRO weapons weren't all boring black.
Standard, advanced and prototype weapons all had different colors.
Officer weapons looked more unique.
And more crap that I'm missing.
They seriously sucked this game of all diverse color.
And the best thing is, THERE WASN'T EVEN A REASON TO TAKE OUT THE COLORS THEY JUST SYSTEMATICALLY REMOVED COLORS. (check your Dev privilege)

Legion already has trees. It even has burning trees.
Can't say I'm all that surprised.

Ah yes, the old HMG of old, where it was rusty with an obvious sloppy paintjob over it and splashes and stripes of red graffiti.

There's green, but it's always a dull Gallente green. Nobody notices the damn grass anyway.
Besides there's technically not supposed to be any green on the surface of planets in outer space... especially war zones...
But there's plenty of shades of red, yellow, and blue to go around. If you haven't noticed that you're not very perceptive.
You know the scary thing about em? They don't need power... lights, heat, nothing. That's their advantage.

wait...what? Green, planets, outer space...as opposed to planet in say, Inner space?

There is the exceptionally rare grassy tile set that appears sometimes during spine crescent and line harvest maps.
This has more to do with art direction; Dust art team wanted to set for something gritty and well they got gritty but used a very limited pallette for it. Gritty doesn't have to be a mud mess as other games proven (last of us) but using the wrong shade of the rainbow can lead to a fantastical my little guardian experience. I have implored the legion art team to explore a wider color set.

The devs wouldn't be red/green color blind. I am red/green and can't tell the green sigs from the red sigs in addition to any of the graphics colors. The devs would have to be non-color blind to have used colors that muddled. A color blind artist, like myself, uses colors that, though slightly muddled, are still saturated enough for me to tell what they are and if I use any colors that look muddled to me would actually be more saturated, even dayglow to others.

Destiny is practically re-skinned Halo, it's awesome and of course very vibrant.
Legion will be very gritty, this is future war between four major empires therefore the game will be very dark and muted in its color scheme.

If they are going with legion then there should be a bigger variety of enviroment. At the moment we have something like a barren desert thing but they should aswell make some nice things like this:
- maps on a gigantic industrial plattform on sea (lots of water) - jungel areas with alot of trees/valley's that only infantry could enter cause vehicles would get stuck in there - something like a floating compound in the air (if they can build starships then they can build that) - fighting inside stations /or maybe even titans - maps with a more urban feel. It cant be that the large things in the background are just for show - maps that are in arctic areas with snow/ice that have aswell a impact on how ground vehicles perform
We are fighting on temperated planets and not just some godforsaken barren rock. |

I still don't have a problem with it as long as it doesn't equate to a boring ass lifeless palette (which most people do).
This is the world of New Eden, I get that the planets we play on right now are barran, terrestrial, industry, planets but that doesn't mean all maps have to be.
When Legion comes out I want to finally be about to fight in a Minmatar Slum on a planet in LowSec When Legion comes out I want to fight in a Contested Low-sec Gallente Transport station fighting/fighting for Pirates contractors trying to take control of it. When Legion comes I want to fight off a Blood Raider Ambush on an Amarr Compound.
Can you imagine how Diverse all those places would be? That's the issue with a lot of games. All maps have the same theme and same feel to it due to it all being based in 1 or more country in the same few settings.
Legion could stop that, With at least a few new entirely new settings and planets.
Diversity of maps equals = fun
see you space cowboy...
