Ive copied my post over from the "assaults as grenadiers" topic.
Everyone complains about the current "meta" in which everyone is in a heavy suit, if not a sentinel suit. Everyone also agrees that assaults need a buff in their damage dealing potential, in an atempt to make them a usefull adition to the battlefield, so why not put those two things together. the heavies have a damage reduction to certain types of damage, so why not give the asssaults a efficiency bonus that (at least) cancels out the bonus that sentinels have. for examle, the gallente assault bonus right now makes it seem like you are meant to run a Tac Ar (due to the hip fire accuracy bonus, it makes the Tac Rifle good at most ranges, and gives them some of the range neccisary to compete with their caldari advisaries. If gallente assaults were given a bonus to, extra damage against shields (with an affinity weapon), then they could effectively combat caldari sentinels. Think of it as an extra proficiency stat. I wont put any actual numbers down, as im not sure how much is usefull, and how much would be overpowered. It would be a fix to both the QQed about heavy spam, as well as all the others suits ability to outpreform the assault at, well, assaulting.

I tend to do fairly well against heavies. Min scout with Knives.
However, if people go head in into something they don't stand a chance of beating, then there's your problem. People complain about their own idiocy. Hell, you can even take down a heavy with a GEK. All you need is the element of surprise and fight on your own terms. If you're fighting an opponent that's WAY slower than you, use that to your advantage.
Making an assault based on grenades isn't going to help much than now.
Also, the extra efficiency stat is on the Commandos (which I haven't seen in a long time). In my opinion, assaults should strengthen the weakness of the weapons, which they are doing at the moment, but maybe not in the best way. Reducing AR spread at CQC is not the greatest idea. Decreasing reload speed is a commando bonus. Great sink and ammo increase is acceptable because those aren't bonuses that are on another suit.
That said, I think the Amarr and Minmatar bonuses are fine, but that the Gallente should get a RoF bonus and Caldari should get shorter spool bonus.
