Been running Amarr since 1.8 and I can already see the subtle nerf coming in the form of losing a high slot and only being able to boost my HMG damage 5% instead of 9% and not even having the option to throw on a shield extender.
Was thinking about Caldari for a while now. But now that they are gaining the high slot that Amarr lost, I wonder if I wouldn't be a more effective Forger in certain situations with the Gallente.
And most of all I'm worried Gallente will be the new HMG king. I doubt an extra plate is going to save the Amarr from the 4% DPS nerf that was stolen by the damn ninja turtles.

I think that heavies will be pretty nerf proof for a while....I am sure that goes for armor also. So yeah, gal.

You have to consider that amarr are the highest base sp sentinel with the highest resist to projectile based weapons (hmg and smg, cr) couple that with an extra low for a plate or another complex rep and the ak.0 might actually be the better suit if the changes go thru

because it's really annoying when your logi either dies or is incompetent. you're basically useless without a logi unless you run Caldari.
ive seen people work wonders with that shield recharge time back up to about 1000 shields in less than 4 seconds

i hope so. that's why I picked the Amarr in the first place. i'm too lazy to run the math but I swear, I'm telling you right now that Gallente with a Six Kin is going to be BEAST

Gal. I have Armarr and Gal proto and I love the Armarr since closed Beta, but the Gal is nice to try out once in a while. Make sure your core skills are maxed before you make the move. Also if you haven't max out the HMG as well 5 in all slots excluding the stupid PG skill. Does anyone really use it?

Here are the things about the Caldari I like though.
Basically all you have to do is stick to cover, duck down when you take enough damage and in a couple seconds you're already fully charged again.
If you run shield extenders you can tank a forge gun shot, and rep your HP back faster than the Gallente especially now that they're losing a low slot.
You don't need to depend on a Logi. If they happen to be around they can top you off, or give you extra assurance in case your shields drop to zero, but with the armor based sentinels you're essentially useless without a Logi.
However it will take me a couple more million SP to complete the shield skill tree. I already have the armor skills. The thing is I have my heavy weapon skills basically maxed.

I unfortunately have points in it, as it was the only way to make a particular protofit actually work before the heavies were buffed to insane levels in PG and CUP... :/

You guys haven't heard Jacques Cayton II talk about Caldaris. He's a high profile player and wrecks people with the Caldari and an HMG.
I don't know. I just realized that since Rattati is FINALLY fixing Cal scouts, I might just start skilling into scouts instead of picking a new heavy suit.
It'll cost a ton of SP but once I get my biotics and EWAR up I'll be a "super soldier" with all my dropsuits, passive skill in everything.

If you don't have another type of suit already, that's a good idea. Heavies can only heavy differently, and if you already have a prototype heavy it won't be a huge difference. A different frame offers a nice change of pace and playstyle.

But I'm not saying you couldn't have a slaughter feast with Caldaris and HMGs. You would still take out almost everyone but it's really on how you play. If you're used to shield, use the Caldari. If you're used to armor, use the Gallente. Again it's really how you play. Caldaris have more high-slots than Gallente so you would have more shield (and/or damage). While the Gallente has more low-slots so the armor will be high.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter as long as you have a proto sentinel with a logi on ya tearing up the place.

i just finished getting Galogi fully proto, all the equipment, everything. my Amarr heavy has been for a while. all that's left for him are the skills I'm too lazy to get like HMG ammo and a couple of others from 4 to 5, but proficiency is 5 in forge and HMG.
You know though... I should probably go level 5 electronics for that extra CPU before I do anything else. just because it's a little bit of a pain in the ass on my proto Logi fits. but level 4 has been more than enough for a while until now.
i know for sure those damn scouts need CPU skill very badly

he's an ******* just like most of us, but he and I in the same squad have worked miracles and I don't even squad with him outside of PC. say what you want about him but he's half the reason I even wanted the Caldari
I guarantee you if there was a new heavy weapon that was hybrid rail or something, like there prob will be in Legion, I would skill into Cal sent so fast it's not even funny
one of the other reasons is because I haven't really tried shield tanking except a long time ago when I used my Dragonfly all the time, and that doesn't really count as "tanking" and I kind of want to try it
but again, I can just do it on my scout suit

I didn't mean Jacques is not a bad player. xD
But yep. As long as you feel comfortable with your decision, go for it.

Yeah I buckled down and got 5 in elec and engineering just so I know I have the max capacity of any suit even if it isn't needed. All 5 core skills almost feels like an achievement lol. I only have a few lvls in a few mods left then I don't know what I'll do. Nice to have variety that's for sure.

TBH sentinel doesn't need it, as a matter of fact the only thing I ran out of was PG and my PG has been 5 for a long time. it was because I used a Lai Dai AV grenade with my Assault FG and i had to use a regular Viziam ScP instead of Carthum. That's literally the only fitting problem I've ever had with my Amarr sentinel.
back when I was Minlogi i didn't even use equipment, I was going for the hack bonus. eventually i broke down and got nanocircuitry but I still didn't need more CPU than level 4. every time i've ran out of CPU, i ran out of PG first.
but now the Gallogi needs it pretty badly

I don't consider trading the high slot for a low slot a bad thing. I consider it a buff.
4% damage is not much of a difference, especially with the HMG which practically kills things instantly. The only time it might come in slightly useful would be against a heavy, in which case it would be very slight and another plate would give you more general ability to fight other heavies.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

i knew someone was going to come in here and say that. that's why i said i was too lazy to do the math.
well, you, arkena, still convinced me enough that even after Charlie I will have a fitting with a shield extender on my Amarr heavy for when there aren't enough hostile heavies around and i'd be better off with survivability.
have a +1
edit: wait a goddamn second here. you don't get a +1 until you tell me which sentinel you like more.

Cal Sent is a lot of fun and surprisingly effective in 1v1 heavy fights if you keep moving. Also fantastic at soaking up explosives.
