Is because of dampening and cloaking.
What's the point of having more hp and dps when you can't see where your enemies coming from. I've been running assault all day and if your not in a squad with a scout or gal logi you have to play real conservative.
That's not how you should feel when using a assault suit.
My proposal to fix this is to give a delay from when you decloak and you are able to fire. Ttk is so low you barely have time to react.
Another fix is to make dampened enemies visible on scanners when firing there weapon. You should be visible for three seconds after you fire your weapon. This is the only fps game that allows you to go undetected after you fire your weapon which is ridiculous.
Add these in and you can expect to see a lot more assault suits on the field. |

i've only been gone for two weeks and you're in general tso's alliance? umm anyway
theres a game called Metroid Prime Hunters that was a FPS that you aim both your gun and the direction you move with the stylus on a touch screen
in that game there is a cloaker that is very balanced. his name is Trace and he can only turn invisible when he stands still and either has his sniper weapon equipped or is in "alt form"
just like a scout he is more susceptible to damage than the other hunters. but the problem with Dust is scouts can be invisible because scanning plays a much larger role than in MPH and the scout doesn't have to do anything except wear the right dropsuit fitting to be invisible. and Trace doesn't really have a shotgun or even much of a use for one, and the "shotgunner" in that game is always completely visible and can freeze you in place if he charges it up and shoots at almost point blank range.
now here's the thing. there is basically no "heavy" in that game because instead of that, Samus Aran the protagonist is basically OP because she can pretty much fire swarm launchers at infantry (that fly much faster.)
Games like this, Star Wars Battlefront, and most of the other generic shooters don't really have a heavy or scout class that's as formidable and powerful as in Dust. Basically all there is are Assault classes and an extremely toned down version of a Scout.
So that's where you're getting the impression of the assault class from in the first place.
Signature? What signature! I have no idea what you're talking about my good sir.

It's kinda silly that they don't have this in game already.

I agree that having players profile dampening reduced by firing weapons is a great idea but it isn't going to get into the game anytime soon. Legion perhaps? It would, as the previous post pointed out, require a client side update and a massive amount of coding. I don't think Dust is getting the Dev time to make that happen currently.
On the other hand I don't think that this is the only way to make assault suits more viable. Yes, scouts are hard to spot when damped and cloaked but that doesn't make them impossible to see. I regularly kill cloaked/damped scouts and get killed when cloaked/damped in my scout fit. Making assault suits faster and buffing their hp will have a noticeable impact on their effect on the battle field.
This is not to say that I think the proposed changes to assaults will make them perfect. Far from it I think the assault suits primary bonuses still need a rewrite. Excepting that larger change though, which would be harder to balance, the current proposed assault changes are a step in the right direction.

Well if you are all alone in an assault suit, you kinda deserve to get SG in the back. I think a good HP buff like Rattati suggested will do the trick. Assaults really aren't that far off, I still use mine. In fact, its the only suit I have proto and have been quite successful in PC with it.

Your right they can be spotted visually but it's not always that easy. I disagree that increasing their speed and hp will help. I could be in a heavy suit and a scout will sneak up on me with dr and take away half my health. In a assault suit I barley survive sometimes. Make cloaks non combat effective is the only to make assaults viable. Either make decloak noise louder or increase delay between decloak and firing. |

Your right if your running solo as a assault you deserve to get shotgunned. But let's think about the guys who only specced assault and that's all they can run. Your telling me they shouldn't feel comfortable running solo? |

You can always run solo but your suit kinda plays a role in where you should be on the map in relation to your team. Scouts are good for solo Ops, assaults slightly worse, heavies are usually awful. I've found the best place for my assault is usually right outside the mob of heavies and logis (about 20 to 30 meters). Scouts would want to be much further.

In Battlefront that depended on the special class. Each Faction had a special class in which the Seperatists had that rolling drone that was essentially a heavy, it had rapid fire with temporary invulnerability.
Metroid Prime isn't anything like this genre of game, not all fps games are the same they can be subcategorized. A game more like this would be Planetside 2 which does have heavy infantry and even super heavy infantry mech like guys along with scouts that cloak. Cloaks give off a blue sheen when in motion so keep an eye out for that. You can see them moving. The biggest issue with cloaking is the fact that you can in my opinion far too quickly start firing outside of cloaking. So fast in fact that you can get a shotgun blast or a few sprays from a rifle before the cloak actually drops. Not too mention aim assist doesn't work on a cloaked target while aim assist will work for the target cloaked. The Cloak should be primarily for evasion and flanking not for outright engagement. Just like scouts should not be designed for outright engagement in the first place, that's why Assaults feel underpowered, because scouts simply fulfill their fast aggressive behavior much better. Scouts SHOULD be too frail to engage directly and have to rely on Ewar. Which I think one good way to fix this issue is just to invert PG/CPU requirements where armor and shield modules are taxing on power while dampeners/kincats/scanners are cheaper to fit. As it stands currently for the most part the big ones kincats/codebreakers/dampeners which are the most oriented towards scouts are also some of the most taxing modules which works counter intuitive to the fact that scouts have the lowest CPU/PG grids. |

A forge gun or HMG with a rifle sounds ridiculous. And assaults don't need two light slots scouts just need to not be viable tanks while being extremely viable Ewar.
Laser Rifle and a HMG would be so broken being able to engage at anything except the furthest sniper ranges which are arguably a non issue for most objectives. |

I take offense to this. Scouts have always been harder to see on the tacnet unless active scanned and I haven't had under a 2.0 k/d since the last reset running assault 90% of the time (damn my fascination with Nova Knives...). Running Minmatar gear almost exclusively since 1.0 and assault specifically the large majority of that time hasn't kept me from being useful.
Any suit can be useful in the right hands, the problem is that the assault has nothing it is innately better at doing than any other suit.
Don't diss my Winmatar Assault.

i'm going to throw this up here like I do in every assault buff thread
- Gallente needs a different skill bonus entirely. It actually makes the AR a worse weapon unless you're trying to do some weird no-scoping stuff at 70 meter ranges that you shouldn't even really need to do in the first place.
- Caldari's is underwhelming especially on the Rail rifle
- Amarr and Minmatar have VERY GOOD SKILLS. They should be more than viable after a buff.

Metroid Prime isn't anything like this genre of game.
it's hard for me to remember anything from Battlefront. i haven't played it in years. i hope you can do it on PS4 i will buy it so quick it's not even funny. don't even need the online co op.
Hunters is nothing like the actual Prime trilogy. It's a lot like this game in the sense that it's a multiplayer FPS. Using Weavel made me want to try out the Mass Driver. Look, don't patronize me, i haven't played dust in 2 weeks and was stuck playing MPH at the airport while my flight was grounded for 17 hours the other night. I wrote that post after 40 hours without sleep.
