If by FOTM u mean the best current suits then yes. Of course people are gonna spam scouts and heavies if they stomp other suits with less effort. Most people don't want to gimp themselves by choosing a weaker suit even if they have the skill to outperform better suits they would still be handicapping themselves. If you wanna be Hero Jones and and choose a less played suit then by all means go ahead but it's bull to call someone a FOTM chaser when they are just trying to use a suit that can actually compete on even ground with everyone else. I know what your thinking "STFU u scrub just use what you like, who cares". I LIKE not being out flanked 24/7 just because i'm not a scout and my tacnet can't see into the future or losing point B 3 vs 1 because we don't have a heavy to eat everyone's souls. *Rage mode deactivated* |

You can accept FOTM chasing as a viable and legitimate way to approach the game and acknowledge that FOTM, resulting from bad balance, hurts diversity and thus the game at a larger scale.

I'd be fine with this speech...if they didn't already nerf other stuff like the GalScout.
Sorry, your too late. Either restore everything that's ever been nerfed or continue the balance so we can have a fun, enjoyable game where everyone has a chance and stuff counters other stuff.

Scouts and heavies are not FOTM.. and assaults dont need a buff.. lol.. They still one shot my scout suit.. (they just mad about another suit being capable of slaying) Almost ALL OF THEM.. You want to chase FOTM go get your Kalikaiota Rail rifle..
On a side note.. There are NOT ALOT of scouts on the field atm... More heavies than anything,
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.. stop nerfing scouts to appease the Call of Booty crowd.. |

Overall, scouts weren't nerfed, they were equalized.
Scouts have been a little FOTM lately, but not as much post Alpha. Heavies... yeah...
Flipping heavies...

It isnt bad balance. Its people refusing to adapt to a dynamic battleground. CCP hears the cries and then changes ideas that were applauded by the community just months ago. This what creates FOTM. CCP wants to give a fair chance in Dust but not realizing gamers will pick the strongest option to win.
Just look at scouts and sentinels. Both underperforming suits in the past. Changes come to make the viable options and now the GD wants em nerfed back. Is it balance we are pursuing or are we catering to the weaker majority who does not adapt?

but, an fotm chaser is exactly what you describe... and I am not judging it, I don't blame the player or think that makes them a scrub...
as a matter of fact the ones who first discover the fotm and use it flawlessly are the best players of the game, because it takes time, effort, intelligence and skill to be on top of the constant changes and make the most use of them.
however it doesn't make for a very healthy game. it does reward players who were just lucky ( or unlucky) enough to have already skilled into the fotm, and once its well known what build that is it also rewards players of lesser skill (and hinders them once it's nerfed), and it punishes other players who really enjoy and excel at a different role but get steamrolled by imbalanced mechanics.
now true balance is a mirage, you cant balance a player, but you can make the items they use provide leveled yet unique ways of countering each other, that when used properly against an opponent of equal skill rewards the users ability with that item over the item's inherent ability.
the bottom line is, there shouldn't be the best suit in the game... there should only be the best suit for your play style. |

what you describe is the result of giving one thing too much while giving another thing less or not enough...
ccp has always used a meat cleaver over a scalpel when it comes to balancing.
so yeah it's great when something gets a well deserved buff, but ccp never just gives something a little buff, ccp changes a whole bunch of things together without considering the dynamics those changes make in comparison to everything else. |

By all means spec into FOTM to have an higher advantage on other players who spec into what is best for their play style...that is fine...
However always remember that you are no better than the minority that still use assault suits and logi suits who have to put maximum effort to recieve the same results that FOTM users do game to game efficiently with minimum effort...
Remember to respect the next minmatar assault, the next amarr logi specialist, the next gallente loyalist who just runs the same racial suit and weapon to make his own content to the game that ccp did not provide, all of which whom speced into what is best for their wanted play style.Do not just see them as idiots who cant keep up with you in PC games or cant game to game keep up with you FOTM users but instead accept that there are people with a different mindset to you that would rather do what they WANT to, rather than spec into FOTM to constantly assert dominance on others to gain satisfaction... |

I hate being told I'm a fotm chaser, when I chose CalScouts for the looks. I'm glad fotm is changing to amarr, so I can run my Calscout in peace. |

Unless you were going Amarr scout or Minamatar, there would be little to tell the FOTM scouts from the legit ones.
I am hoping the assault buff with the scout changes make it more clear.

We all do our thing for our own reasons. Some people switch it up looking for a battlefield advantage, some stay the course looking to adapt to the changing meta of their fits.
I think on both sides there can be resentment.... some think those that stay the course fail to adapt. Some think those that bounce around are FOTM chasers.
Couldn't care either way what people think of me.

Disagree with the OP for the simple fact that the suits and weapons deemed FoTM will almost always get nerfed. Sometimes to oblivion and back. It's much better to wait and see who and what CCP targets with the nerf hammer, then go bonkers with your SP.
