What if putting a sidearm in the Light weapon/Heavy weapon slot gave a +x% bonus to Ammunition capacity.....mostly so I can run a Carthum Assault as a main and not completely rely on a nearby supply depot.

Nah. As a sidearm, when paired with a light or heavy gun, it's more like your last chance/help me out here kind of weapon in which case it doesn't need a whole lotta ammo because it's not under heavy use. When it's in the light weapon slot it's going to get a lot of use I just think that using it as a true primary (unlike me sometimes where I run my mass driver as a secondary) and it's fitted into the light/heavy slot, that's only when it really needs a helping hand with the ammo.
EDIT or Ammo Expansion modules for infantry could go a long way

In that case it would make sidearms a more viable low CPU/PG alternative to light weapons for logis, considering a repper-leech doesn't have much need for a weapon anyways and would like to focus on the fit & EQ.

Here's a better idea, equipping a weapon into a slot that can carry a heavier weapon reduces the damage output. That would make it less useful to go heavy with a light weapon and trying to buff Logi's of all things, lol. |

For one the subject of the thread is sidearms please do not diverge into that ever-so-controversial (oh no!) heavy-light weapon combo blah blah. Secondly your idea is worse not better though that is opinion but it's my opinion so I hold it higher than yours.
Three, sidearms in the heavy/light weapon slot is universal, every suit can achieve it so this is not limited to logis, heavies; it's every single suit in the game.

Hmm I never considered Nova Knives....since they don't require ammunition I can't think of a way to give Nova Knives a competitive edge to be in the light/heavy slot while maintaining the "passive aggressive" idealism behind the idea.
You see, increasing ammunition capacity does not make the weapon any better in a fight, it just furthers the use you can get out of it before needing supply depot/hive. But Nova Knives could not receive any such "passive" bonus....:
Decreasing Charge time directly effects killing
Range directly effects killing
Movement speed....
Third stab definitely directly effects killing
Yeah Nova Knives I guess can't work cohesively with my idea but I do believe (keep this between me & you now) that Nova Knives should have a movement speed bonus attached to them.....
