So I just wondered if anyone else had inventive ideas. I am very often frustrated by the teams I play with in pubs especially when people simply keep pushing into enemy fortified positions meat grinding scores of clones in minutes especially on ambush.
So, I'll get the ball rolling.
I am often -very- annoyed when i'm typing a message and i get 'waiting for deployment' and my text goes into team chat instead of it's intended recipient. Why of all things does text go there...if anything it should be your voice comms that move over to facilitate teamwork.
Here's another. Why can't we somehow get an ability to set squad orders for the team...dunno how you would decide the criteria, but essentially would just allow some person(s) to set team orders like squad orders...there are -many- instances where if I could have just pointed out to my team that we needed to push back instead of them pushing up to some team camping from the high ground that we'd have been much better off. And ideas for how this could be implemented or if it's worth it?
What are your ideas? Are you satisfied with the level of teamwork in pubs? is it worth trying to improve dust to facilitate it?

A good start would be returning to how Dust used to work in Open Beta where all players were immediately assigned a squad upon deployment if they did not have them and one of those players would randomly be assigned as squad lead (and make it really, really obvious if you are squad lead). And then if you entered a match solo you will leave the match solo as I know a lot of people don't always want to be paired up with people all the time.
Then fix the squad order mechanics such that it is clearer to new players how to access them (not sure how to do this, but I know the answer definitely isn't a text box) and also make it so you the person with a defend order does not get points for defending him/herself so we can courage the use of other commands. Also increase the % bonus to following squad orders to make it more appealing (currently we are at 20% bonus, perhaps move it to 50%).
Lastly, allow squad leaders to view the squad orders from other squad leaders. Perhaps color code them or simply text label them. This would allow squad leaders to make better decisions on what to do, and is not something normal non-squad leaders need to see and we should always reduce clutter where not necessary.

I'm trying to think of something that would cause blues to make an effort. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst skilled playerbase that I've ever seen in an fps.
In BF4, there is no redline in Domination and the maps are smaller than the conquest maps. So, when you respawn, you are placed on the map where you can be killed. There is no hiding....I notice that this forces players to go for objectives or do something even when they're getting smacked.
Not sure if a no redline policy would work on Dust because you need a safe place to spawn if you have a vehicle. Because you will get camped otherwise

Give a 50% isk and sp bonus for wins. Nothing pisses me off more than bluedots wanking off in the redline or shooting at the mcc. |

Speaking of squad orders I was having a discussion recently with someone (I'm certain it was Pokey Dravon - one of my fellow candidates that I think you should check out and consider voting for ) and we wanted to come up with ways to make the squad orders feel like more than simply putting a defend order on someone 90% of the time...if you remember at all.
Well we had some really cool ideas but alas they all seem more likely for legion lol.
Stuff like bouses to DPS when operating within range of an attack order or a resistance to damage when you are protecting the person who has the defend order...just brainstorming and nothing final...but it was really fun because I don't know about you but I feel the squad orders are a really uninspiring mechanic atm but has so much potential.
Anyways on to your ideas.
I really like the idea of people being manually put into squads from the get go even if entering solo. I didn't know about this. Why was it removed!? And in addition no more wasted WP's?!? Count me in!
I'd like to see people use more than defend order as well. And I agree completely if you're designated the defend order you shouldn't get more points, the people around you defending you should!
Increasing the bonus may be the easiest way to make squad orders used more frequently...but I think overall the biggest thing is as you said we need to have a solid way of communicating the purpose and uses of squad orders overall.
Anyway great post!

I've thought a lot about this in the past...how we could incentivize wins better so people cared more.
And I can agree with you, nothing stings more than blue dots being redlined and finding 1/2 the team swap to sniping with another four walking out the redline to get slaughtered and the rest either sitting in the mcc, quitting the match...or myself trying to get an ads in to go drop links down again.

I'm trying to remember when they removed it. It was definitely there at the beginning of Open Beta/Chromosome, and if I recall correctly it was actually removed in a hotfix before Uprising was released. I can't exactly remember CCP's reasoning, maybe I can dig it up.
