Am I the only one who noticed that the no one is talking about how bad the ion pistol is? Did it really tank so badly that everyone would rather forget about it than offer ways to improve upon it? I don't have any ideas that will fix the ion pistol without making it op aside from reducing the heat build up and/or reducing the cool down. |

Reduce it by making it take 2 or 3 shots before heat up.

Totally revamp it into a two shot mini shotgun, the exact opposite of a bolt pistol. |

I think people are waiting until they say they're doing the sidearm rebalance, which would be Delta at the earliest.
Anyway, what if the heat mechanic was kept, but damage was merely increased?
Or charge damage alone increased.

It would have to have a reload speed longer than what it is now, you would also need to decrease the rof. I'm iffy about the heat buildup, If your talking about a shotgun sidearm we might need it.

People noted that it would be terrible before it was released.
People then talked about the aforementioned people being correct, and others joined in on discussion of the ion pistols suckage and possible ways to fix it.
People then got bored of talking about the ion pistol, because they realized that CCP won't be doing anything anytime soon.
I myself would be content if CCP fixed the god-awful aim/spread/hit detection. Anything else would be grand.

Lets not forget about the similarly awful shake when you charge it and aim down the iron sights.

It's pretty awesome watch the shots go off in completely random directions and enemies being able to completely nullify any damage by backpedaling a couple meters. It's like the Nova Knives of pistols, only less practical.

If getting killed by a weapon--in this case, the Ion Pistol--is a bigger knock to my confidence than getting killed by a PC or FP, then something's seriously wrong with that weapon. |

Fix the glitchy ness of the weapon first, it's hard to evaluate it a weapon that doesn't work properly.
I think it's a decent sidearm tho, just have to fix that overheat no matter how much you charge it. If my finger slips and I charge it to 20 percent it shouldn't overheat.
