Has anyone even consider giving the Caldari logi a side-arm will make the Assault even more useless?

the arguement for the logi sidearms seems really strange to me.
So the amarr logi has it. ok, that makes sense because it is being branded as a combat logi. Also the Amarr assault has a really nice and unique bonus so it differentiates itself quite nicely from the amarr logi. Then IWS proposes we get rid of the sidearm for an equipment slot.
Uhm, that doesn't really make much sense because it decreases diversity across the logi spectrum. There are tons of arguments on why this isn't a good idea and that the community by and large do not want the sidearm removal. So, instead of leaving the amarr logi as it is, CCP then suggests caldari should have a sidearm as well.
Again, this decreases diversity along the logi spectrum, and unlike the amarr assault vs amarr logi, there isn't that much of a bonus to differentiate between the caldari logi and the caldari assault, and a side arm on the cal logi will just further blur the lines.
I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem to me like medium suits' problems are slot based. Instead I think their bonuses should be reevaluated. |

The assault isn't useless, its just that people don't play the role. I know guys that still assault and are damn good at it. They don't care about WP whoring like many others do. |

Solid point. I have had zero reason to break out the CalAss on my Cal character since 1.8. Every time I think about it, all the other racial suits do everything it can, just better. My Commando reloads everything fast (not just Rail weapons) and deals more damage with the same weapons, Scout is faster and regens more quickly and has great ewar, and my Logi has slots, slots everywhere. Give the Logi a sidearm and there needs to be a MUCH more compelling bonus and/or reworking of the Assault. I mean, it needs those already, but it'll be amplified massively if Nineslots McHivespam can carry a sidearm.

well, did giving the amar logi a side arm hurt assaults? or were they already in a crappy place?
if ccp would just fix the assault then another suit shouldn't be able to affect the usability of the assault. |

What about alternate series of logi suit? Such as one type of min-logi limited to a side arm, yet has more cpu/pg and an extra equipment slot? Or a caldari logi with a higher base hp but slower than the rest.
This also reminded me to question why they don't have alerternate suit varieties such as the assualtc-II or the vk.o they had back in beta. Why we're they completely removed? Did they not fit the game? Was it to hard to reintroduce them?

If it's not used in PC by the dudes with 4+ KDRs then it's not where it needs to be. It's really that simple. You don't have to like that fact, but it doesn't change the fact that it's true.
People on PC teams min/max to the fullest extent. They see what they get beaten with and adopt it.
I honestly don't think I've been killed by an assault suit in PC in months. MAYBE Tibs with his Amarr and SCR. |
