Just hit a heavy and he survived, it was a militia rail, but god damn, it's a f***** rail, heavies can't survive a direct hit.
Well this game is turning into another chapter of Dragon Ball.

Not nerfed too hard.
Not even though one survived six (6 = SIX) direct hits by proto railgun. Of course they were not in a row but after he had chance to get repped full by hives, but still it shows that it weren't a gimmick or I did not just mistake splash damage as direct hit. not even after that, cause it must've been gallente sentinel with rail resistance. Yea it both amazed and annoyed me, sure.

Have you ever tried to hit a Forge heavy at about 200m with a railgun? It is barely possible for the tank to shoot the heavy, but the heavy can shoot the tank just fine from behind a rock or looking down over an edge. Most of the time the tank can't even fire back because they are out of the angle of fire. ---Not to mention, they get WP for being a lethal annoyance, and the tanker gets nothing unless the heavy dies.
Killing in one hit is more than enough compensation for all those bonuses.

Lest talk. Heavies die by one shoot from my P. Cannon.
Heavies can take max 4sg shoots. Lest talk about armor ones, they can take more. 1 shoot for shield, 2-3for armor (every shoot for armor is 450-470) . If you cant hit 4times in a row with 100% accuracy, find another gun to use. CreoDron works fine.

I'm a DS operator, so my perspective on mercs is always looking down on them from the air. Maybe this should cause me to have a certain disdain for infantry as secondary to my vehicle world---but it doesn't. For me, Dust 514 is about foot-play firstly, and vehicle-play secondarily or in a support role for the infantry.
So I keep viewing the "weapons" in this game as animals of two differnt jungles.
One jungle were the weapons are designed to the scale of personal suits and shielding.-- in that jungle it makes sense that a heavy's performance is geared to try to resist every kind of hand-held evil from grenade to multiple shotgun bucks. You're right if you say, it's a fatty or a heavy, and it's supposed to stand there and take multiple punishment of that kind.
The other jungle is where the weeapons are designed to the scale of vehicles and emplacements -- in that jungle the Rail Turrets and Installations should have a power that is OUT OF SCALE with mere personal dropsuits. They are intended to penetrate HAVs and DS, and wear down even CRU-installations over time. It makes sense that NO personal dropsuit, not even a super-fitted heavy, should be able to still function after a solid bullseye from a Rail. Even if the heavy was clearly crippled and depleted of all armour by the hit... I'd still feel a little "unfairness" if I see her still walking. Nowhere in the game do we really get the impression that a dropsuit was INTENDED to protect against this scale of weaponry.
SMALL rail turrets could be argued as being technology's attempt to miniaturize the vehicle-pounding power of the Rail, for easier more agile use against suit-mercs. So it KIND OF represents a "crossover" for rail power. Should IT be able to bury a heavy in one shot?
....I would LOVE it to (I'm sorry, let me wipe this DS driver drool from the corner of my mouth...), but no, I think it's probably fair that it take two shots (or three sometimes) to kill a fatty. It takes more than one shot for its Railgun bigger brothers to deplete the vehicles they were intended to specialize in... So yeah, the chunky fatty should still be able to hawk-n-spit back at me after the first shot... ,I guess the small rail turret ought to sacrifice a little potency when its designers try to step it down to a lightweight scale.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

That's hardly a valid argument considering how good armor repair modules/repair tools are and that shared scans exist.

STD sentinel suits shouldn't break 650 of their main HP type with all plates/extenders yet they seem to have no problem spawning in with 1000 armor with spawn invincibility (That one thing I never seem to get!).

BS Railgun direct hit should one shot every infantry player, no matter what, me too.
Racro 01 Arifistan wrote:maybe if you used a std railgun. and ACTUALLY INVESTED SP INTO TANKING It's a damn direct hit, no infantry is supposed to survive.
I don't want realism, but at least some kind of logic, if a cannon bigger than a man shoot a man, the f***ing man dies.

I have always had a sentinel capable of tanking an MLT rail, since heavies had 1200 base.
It's not new, and it comes at the cost of movement.
I only ever used that fit to troll Sicas by fighting them in the street; it was rare enough they'd hit me once, but in case they did they'd have to do it again. My IAFG meant they wouldn't get the chance.
It would seem like wisdom, but for the warning in my heart...

Self repair mods are trash against burst dps. Remote rep tools are built for use with heavies and require team work. You are not complaining about a single suit at this point, you are complaining that you cannot overcome teamwork with ease.
If the heavy is killing everyone by himself then it stands to reason that everyone else is trash. This happens often. |
