Compared to their infantry side counterparts the Vehicle scanners are in a place right now where there's very little incentive in using anything above the Militia or Basic variants. Primarily I believe this to be because of 2 main factors.
1. Prohibitive fitting costs on the higher tiered variants : Basic - 50 CPU / Enhanced - 84 CPU / Complex - 124 CPU
2. Aside from cooldown, no performance increase across tiers. A Complex scanner won't be picking up anything that a Basic scanner couldn't also pick up.
Possible Suggestions :
- Make higher tiered variants easier to fit (obviously)
- Give them an additional bonus across tiers. Maybe increased scan radius or scan precision per jump.
- Both!
As an aside, both Vehicle Electronics and Vehicle Engineering are severely lacking in purpose as skills. They don't give a bonus and neither of them unlock modules that you'd want or need to skill into (Engineering in particular only unlocks Vehicle CRUs of which only a single variant exists so there's literally no reason to skill it beyond 1). Considering that the propulsion modules are tied to "Vehicle Core Upgrades" which also unlocks CPU/PG upgrades if it's possible it may just be worth getting rid of both Vehicle Electronics and Engineering and moving over their respective modules to "Core". Not sure if such a thing would require a patch though.

Oh no vehicle scanners only should be capable to pick up medium suits and heavys. The cooldown time is incentive enough.
They say when you die you see a white light which then forms the line of:

Why? Currently there's very little incentive to skill into vehicle based scanners for the reasons I listed above. Any Scout that wants to avoid vehicle scanners can do so with a single level of profile dampening - no module needed from that point on to be completely invisible. And further it makes sense for vehicle based scanners to have a higher precision given that they're equipped to a more powerful platform to do so.
If we had variants of vehicle scanners that had higher precision and lower duration/same or higher cooldown then there'd be a reason to skill into them and they'd open up more relevant and varied roles for vehicle specialists.
Saying "No, you're wrong" Isn't a good argument for your side.

Amendment : Very little reason to skill into anything vehicle related.

Shared intel across the entire allied team, would open up intel assists for the vehicle user by any blueberry who scores a kill. Would make it much more viable and useful for the team as a whole, especially if the complexity of the scanner increased the WP netted from intel assists, ala injectors. |

This is another alternative that I'd fully endorse.

*puts on troll face mask*
why not seperate their functionality
basic:scans vehicles only, long range weak scan advanced:scans vehicles and infantry, medium range, weak scan proto:scans vehicles and infantry, long range, strong scan
of course lower fitting cost by maybe 2% per skill level(total of 10% at lvl 5)?
In my eyes this would inspire players to invest in higher tiers

Saying "No, you're wrong" Isn't a good argument for your side. It takes max skills and a complex damp to avoid the damn things on a Logi suit. Two modules on an Assault suit, and forget about it on a Heavy suit. The amount of suits running around over 35dB is huge. The only folks that want uber scan vehicles are the ones that just drive around all game farming intel kill assists. You want to find scouts? Use a scanner or don a scout suit.

Vehicle Scanners should not have a high Scan Precision due to the fact that they have a long uptime.
Though I believe the uptime/cooldown was fine the way it was before 1.7

No one uses any of the better ones because the maddy doesnt have CPU to fit it generally and the Gunlogi uses its high slots for its tank
Also we dont adv/proto vehicles with better slot layout and PG/CPU which would help alot
But vehicles right now do suck, no point in having a scanner since blasters dont have ability to be accurate so no kills for you so its for the squad and your better off with a logi and a scanner since it has more chance of surviving and being useful while being cheaper |

Perhaps the higher teirs should have less range and only 1 or 2 pulses, to offset a higher scan precision. |
