I made a thread a few days ago asking for help with an NK fit. After following your suggestions, I decided to invest the SP into getting Ishukone NKs along with Proficiency 3. My current fit seems decent, but I was wondering if there were any areas that could use some improvement.
Scout gk.0
Complex Shield Extender x2 Complex Profile Dampener x2 Complex Ferroscale Plates x2
Ishukone NKs CAR-9 Burst ScP Flux Grenades
Remote Explosives Ishukone Cloak Field
The suit has decent tank with an eHP total of 560. It sprints at 8.01 m/s and can keep hidden from most CalScouts and Gallente Logis. However, I was wondering if it is too slow for proper knife work. I have a lot of CPU/PG left over and I've been wondering if swapping out a Ferroscale for a Complex KinCat would be better. I'm also unsure if the Burst ScP is a good follow up sidearm. I only put it on because I have ScP Proficiency to 5. Would an Assault SMG be a better replacement? Any help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance. |

Scrambler pistol and NK are both execution weapons.
SMG is more reactionary (spray and pray). So I tend to mix my types between alphas like a breach shotgun and reactionary like SMG.
But a good shot with a ScP is deadly and sometimes it is better to reach out and kill a scout from outside their tacnet.

My recommendation, as a party time knifer... Forget about tank, it doesn't work with knifing.
Drop the shield extenders for sidearm damage mods, even with a proto min scout you'll get suits who survive a charged shot, so as a Gal scout you need all the damage you can get.
As mentioned above, drop one of your plate modules for a kin cat, speed for positioning and jump shots is invaluable.
Personally I'd change the ScP for a SMG. If someone survives a knife shot they may be standing close enough to drop out of your vision. Spray and pray is the way to go in that case. In addition, the damage profile favours armour, which is what your target should be at if you get a hit in with the knives. But to be honest, you're best off using what you like.

Combination of all of the above. Remove all Plates, add KinCatz Remove all Extenders, add Sidearm Damage Mods Scrambler Pistol, though thoroughly badass, would be better replaced with SMG (M209, to be exact) Accept Loss as the new Normal. Good luck.

I'd also recommend (as you will die, it's part and parcel of knifing) don't use a proto suit if you can get away with the fittings on a lower tier suit. I normally run advanced with limited fittings so I can fit proto knives.

Well, yea, there's a way to improve it...
You could get a Minmatar Scout instead. :P
I would recommend the kincat though. Even if it doesn't boost your movement speed at all, being able to sprint and jump towards a target can be important when knifing. You really don't need that much EHP for a knifing suit anyways.
Nova Knives are best sidearm.

Ahh, thanks for the suggestions. I'll try a few different fits out, but the one that stood out to me was the dual complex damage mods and kincats. My previous ADV suit was built this way. It had absolutely no tank but I still managed to do rather well with it. |

Scout gk.0
Complex Shield Extender x2 - Change for one complex precision enhancer (if your not changing below). Complex Profile Dampener x2 - Assuming your lvl 5 damps/precision, if not a PC change for a Complex precision enhancer. Complex Ferroscale Plates x2 - One enhanced plate and one complex rep. More HP with more reps, very small speed reduction (you won't notice).
Ishukone NKs CAR-9 Burst ScP - Swap out for longer range defence. Flux Grenades - Personally I go with a well timed locust.

I think im pretty good with the SCP and so i will tell you: when your using a SCP always go for the assault version cuz its the same damage but increased ROF. I have Sharpshooter 5, Rapid reload 5 and proficiency 2 and the SCP can slay with an SMG on a dual sidearm scout at that level maybe even lower. But alas the SMG maybe better as you can sray and pray if an enemy sees you but if you think your skilled enough go for the SCP. Its a very rewarding weapon |

I run KinCats+Damage Mods on Heavies/Sentinels and I catch people off guard with my ability to close in on engagements and put them in my optimal range, or make long flanks that bring me right to rear of an attacking red zerg.

Lol... Well, after a day or so of trying out different fits, I have to say that I favor my initial tanked fit a bit more above the others. Now don't get me wrong, the damage mod and kincat fits did well--producing my highest kill counts for NKs (31 in one match)-- but I died too frequently with them. That's not a good thing for me as each ADV fit costs about 40k.
My dual tanked Proto fit cost about 110k, and the most I've lost in a single match was 2. However, the most I've killed with it was only 17. I guess for now, I'll focus on survivability until I get the hang of knifing. After I learn the ins and outs of it, I'll then try out speed and damage fits again.
Thanks for the help, guys. |

I also knife using a GalScout. Higher proficiency made a measurable difference for me. I'd run a Sidearm Damage Amp until you hit Proficiency IV; you'll likely be better off running two Shield Extenders after that.
For a secondary (finisher), you want something that hits reliably from the hip for decent damage fast. Because backpedaling. My personal favorites (so far) are ScR, ScP, AR, BRAR and CR.

NK fits are built to use your knives. I dont fit knives on a suit that has another weapon because I won't use knives unless in a specific situation. Run fits with just knives to get the hang of them, make it so you are "forced" to learn their pro/cons. Otherwise your knife use will only be for obvious bait targets or people hacking objectives.
If you really want to knife you need to get a minmitar suit.
