So i'm wondering if most people think the leader of a corp should always be a top scorer on the battle field. Would you stay in a corp where most people who attempted to join were stronger than the leader? Should a CEO also be rich before making a corp? Should he be heavily invested in at least a few different roles? What would you say personally are the requirements to start up a corp? |

I don't really expect CEOs to be the best player (though I would expect them to be good).
What makes a good CEO is the ability to lead and make decisions which benefit it's members, and the goals of it's members as a whole. As long as a CEO meets those perquisites, they'll make a good CEO.

Being able to run a corporation successfully and skill in game have little to do with one another.
However to have a capable CEO, FC, and player all in one is a rare thing.
I'd certainly score more than the directors of my corp in battle.... doesn't mean I could run a corporation.

Being the best is not really a necessary trait, however they should be good.

The CEO does not need to be a good player, but requires good leadership traits (Honest, Bold, Respectful, etc), a strong mentality, but most importantly the CEO should be one of the most active players within the corporation. As Attim stated; Making decisions to better the corporation and keep it on a positive track.
To answer your questions:
I would stay in a corporation where other players can outscore, out gun, etc him/her, but if the leader is insane, unreasonable, and is prone to easy fits, then I would either stay for the players in the corporation, or leave. Probably with some of the players too.
The CEO doesn't have to be rich at all. Wealth only pertains to the player using the wallet. A personal example from me is that my wallet used to average about 60-70 million ISK, but I usually donate ISK to my members if they asked or needed it. Now I am in the single digit millions.

Elected officials are rarely the best at what they are supposed to do... Or the most athletic (with the exception of some Sheriff's) It seems the same holds true in games like this... Though it helps to be led by someone that is at least competent. Its too bad we can't get politicians half as good at their jobs as most Dust CEO's are at theirs. |

Yes the CEO needs to be good. A CEO in team chat was asking folks to join his corporation. Match ended and on the killboard he placed 12th with 3 kills and 5 deaths. The next two matches were about the same numbers. You're not going to get recruits that way. |

A good CEO doesn't necessarily need to be anything particular. Field Commanders and Accountants have better prerequisite skills, but can also be idiots in the Social aspect and garner no respect.
A good CEO conducts an environment that properly represents the product they put on the battlefield. (Hint, Hint, Helmar.)

good leaders of good corps don't get to play as often as they would like... to busy making deals behind the scenes and settling corp matters.... so no I don't. |

Having a good gun game is a good way to get people to join your corporation, if they see your on the bottom of the leaderboards then your **** out of luck with that. if your constantly on the top then theyl want to join.
Although having a good gun game doesn't necessarily represent the corporation as a whole, and it certainly doesn't need to be a qualification to be a CEO.
A CEO is someone who can make split second decisions that would benefit his corporation and its members, he should also have leadership experience whether it be squad leading or PC FCing either way its better for the corporation if its leader knows what hes doing with his roles. he should also be able to make wise decisions when it comes to his subordinates, whether he needs officers, new recruits or its time to let someone go, a CEO must make these decisions without hesitation or else there would be doubt that he knows what hes doing.
Qualifications for a CEO:
1- Leadership Experience.
2- Good community representation and a knowledge of how his role works.
3- Able to make split second decisions that will benefit his corporations and the members as a whole.
4- Can make the tough decisions that would determine if the corporation survives or deteriorates.
5- Top 5 most active players in that corporation.
6- Trustworthy.
7- Can make wise decisions on who to make officers, who to recruit and who to kick out if the time demands it.
8- Demands respect from his subordinates and gives respect back.
All of these is required if you are to be an excellent CEO of a corporation. If you don't have any of these qualifications I suggest that you learn up how to gain them so you wont get burned in the beginning. If you have all of these traits then your one of the only CEOs in dust that does.
If you have good gun game to where your on the top of the leaderboards every game then that's a bonus but no necessary, what is necessary however is that your not on the bottom of the list every game.

It isn't even a comparison. Fighting skills have absolutely no bearing on your ability to run a corp.
