I've got all relevant dropsuit/vehicle upgrades and turret/weaponry skills trained to 5, and all relevant vehicle command skills at 3, so I think it's time I take the plunge. I am still committed to running my G-I scout+'Templar' ScR 95% of the time, but am looking forward to having a means to better handle the stomp when it happens. I spent my last ISK on a booster for this SP event and some 'Neo' gk.0 scouts. Lemme just say, moving at 5.4m/s, running just under 8m/s, with almost 14.5/s reps and 630 EHP is pretty nice. T-minus one week and beast mode is unlocked!

I cancelled all EVE accounts and stopped spending money on anything CCP-related after FukFest. Just figured, since it's there I might as well use it since I won't be grinding SP in any future event once I get this proto suit.

Have a hard time shelling out the extra isk when basic gear gets the job done. 2Berries tip of the day: if you can't go k/d positive in basic gear, stay out of proto till you can. My usual setup is a G-I scout with a 'Templar' ScR, and unless there's a proto squad of PCers on the other team and derpberries on mine, I almost always get a KDR of at least 2 with it. I'm just looking to take stomps with a little more dignity (ie, hopefully at least break even on my KDR). I usually have around 40M - 50M ISK in my wallet. I totally agree. I feel like I'm proficient enough now to run proto on occasion without breaking the bank. I go ISK/KDR positive 90% of the time (sorta hard to go positive running solo in basic gear against a squad+ of protatoes, especially when you [try to] push), so I feel ready! I also prefer the faster hacking speed, decreased profile, increased precision, better shield regen, yada yada yada. I feel like the ScR (especially the Viziam) is already an incredibly powerful weapon, without damage mods or and extra 4 or 5 rounds before overheat. Not to mention, the Gallente scout already has 3/s armor reps built in--I've found it's much more survivable for solo play than any assault suit, plus I can use it for recon.

I used to run the Viziam on my proto cal scout, until the third time the overheat took my half mil (guessing cost). After that i toned it down to something with less risk. Not saying it's bad, but stealing the kill from a red with an overheat suicide is not as cool when it hits the pocket book too hard. Still run the ScR on my basic fit sometimes, but not on my proto. Again, too cheap to risk my investment. I am the cool. Shamma lamma mu mu

Again, too cheap to risk my investment. But stealing that kill with a fit that cost me <20k? PRICELESS! When I've played using 'Neo' suits, I tended to hang back a little further because I didn't want to lose all that ISK and increased damage of the Viziam compensates a little for firing at targets outside optimal.
