I'm doing some experiments...would like to know what would be best for fitting in the low slots assuming that I'm just shield tanking my highs, and we're not worried about fitting limits.
I currently have 3 options to pick from, but feel free to suggest your own. This is a run and gun fitting where you're in CQC and not a long-range RR fitting.
1. All Around -Complex Shield Regulator -Complex Profile Dampener -Complex Reactive Plate (for the armor repair bonus)
2. Shield Reliant -2x Complex Shield Regulators -Complex Profile Dampener
3. Dual tanking -Complex Shield Regulator -Complex Armor Plate (reduces sprint speed to 6.95, but increases armor to 300) -Complex Armor repairer ___________________________________________________________________
The reason I'm asking is because I'm comparing this suit with the Caldari Scout, and want to make sure I don't get yelled at because I "didn't fit it for the assault role"
My Caldari Scout in the comparison will have a fully shield tanked suit with a profile damp and a shield regulator, but I didn't know if I should use the same fitting for the Assault or if I should fit the assault more like an assault.

Most people I see, whether it be cal, gal, min, or ammar dual tank so choose 3, but me personally, whenever I use the assualt I go with the regulators if I had proto I would use a complex reactive plate and 2 regulators. |

Sacrificing my stealth for extra bulk seemed like the best option to me. The advantage the Assault has over the scout, extra HP

I'd go for option #3.
With that in mind, I would also sacrifice an extender for an energizer. The extra armour makes up for the lost shield HP, and the energizer will help you get back your shields noticeably quicker, while also putting less strain on your armour (and there will still be strain on the armour).
Relying on shields and a pitiful armour buffer is a surefire way to the respawn screen when in CQC, in my opinion.

I'm not saying to skill into fotm but it's a better slayer suit, I run assaults cuz I always have. Hell logis are still better slayers than assaults.

Putting a profile damp on an assault is pointless because you will be scanned regardless

Dual tanking it gets rid of the few advantages the cal assault has. You still end up with less health than logis and other assaults, except now you have inferior regen and strafe speed. |

Depending on the weapons, my Assault ck.0 looks something like this:
Highs: 1x Complex Shield Energizer 3x Complex Shield Extender
Lows, either: 2x Enhanced Armor Plates & 1x Basic Armor Plate, or 2x Enhanced Armor Plates & 1x Enhanced CPU Upgrade, or 2x Basic Armor Plates & 1x Enhanced Armor Repairer.
Dual tanking all the way, only way for me to keep on level with brick tanked scouts. And personally, I still dont like regulators.
I will be the only player to Prototype every single god damn weapon before Dust dies. 4 to go.

I don't need a lengthy explanation, just tell me whether or not you would. My proto Cal Assault fit. Dual tanked. 3 complex shield extds,,1 basic shield energizer. Lows, 2 basic armor plates 1 enhanced armor reps. Shields come back at 45 I think, and armor zooms back as well. Theres no point in damps on an assault thats awaste. As for regs I think they are pure garbage.

Hey Shayz - you've seen me play assault, so take my advice how you will.
Dual tank is the way to go - you need the reps for those times your shields go out, but the reactive plate just doesn't cut the mustard. Takes way too long to regen the armor. Speed won't be too much of a concern - for long distances you call in the LAV, your mobility in close engagements (jumping, weaving, dodging, dipping, dodging, etc) is sufficient even with the slower overall speed - you really only use that for running across fields anyway.
Also recommend hives - best to be as self sufficient as possible in an assault in my experience.
And if you don't like my play style, or you really think I'm a bad player, do the opposite of what I say. :P

I'd go 1 reg and 2 plates personally. Also 3 complex shields and 1 energizer. That's the best option IMO.

Cal Assault V reporting in.
With shields, HP is an illusion.
Highs: 2x Complex Extender 2x Enhanced Energizers (complex is too CPU)
Lows: 1-2x Complex Regulator 1x Complex Reactve 0-1x Complex Profile
This is fit for the brave. The only thing that finds you is good scanners anyway.
To be seriously effective you need to go Option 3. Because ScR.

Cal suits are not strong to begin with , their not fast and all the have going for them is the shield regen and that's it .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

I fought the dual tanking mentality in Dust early in the closed beta and finally gave into the logic that it works here where it does not in Eve.

I have no experience in the CalAss, but I would build it similarly to my CalScout: extenders in the highs and 1 complex reactive plate and regulators in the lows.
If I had an Assault ck.0, I'd fit it like this:
Complex Shield Extenders x4 Complex Shield Regulator Complex Reactive Plate Basic Ferroscale Plate
Ishukone Assault Rail Rifle SMG C-7 Flux Grenades
K-2 Nanohive
I think it'd have somewhere around 800-810 eHP and with all necessary cpu/ pg skills maxed, fitting it with this setup should be possible. |

The problem with 4 extenders is you reaally slow the time it takes for that hp to start coming back, and you only regen at 30 hp/s. You have to sit in cover forever.

It shouldn't because it does nothing (right now anyway) to increase diversity.
No support modules that require each other in other slots to stay afloat or low enough PG, CPU that makes running both a breeze.
Dual tanking just says, Hey, **** all the other modules! Just stack tons of HP!!! and that's not a game I want to play.
