Legion has 2 confirmed "modes"
Contract (lobby)
Open World (salvage)
I'd like to propose a 3rd which should work well with FW and possibly PC
Persistent Battles
(similar to PlanetSide 2)
In this mode there are high player counts (possibly 1000s) and the goal is to defend the planet
There's an attacker staging area where MCCs/ equipmment deploy when the attack begins
Then there's the SCC (surface command center) which is the heart of the planet and may even have a space elevator, which is the defenders base of operation and the attakers ultimate goal
Scattered across the planet are SI which give your war effort (and eventually your wallet) a boost
Ex Ownership of Biomass outpost increases clone count
each si become a spawn point with capture
The goal for the attacker is to take the SCC, wheater by secretly infiltrating the SCC and hoping you can hold it until the bulk of your forces and orbital support arrive or systematicaly capturing and controlling all of the SI with a massive army before pushing for the SCC
The defenders job is to hold the fort
Attackers lose if they run out of resources to keep pushing due to supply ships/warbarrges being destroyed or held back in space. Or by the defenders capturing their Staging ground.
The Defenders lose if the support in space is also destroyed or by losing the SCC.
The cool thing about this mode is there's no time limit and when you leave the battle will continue
It could last 3 hours or 3 years
The payment system works like this
you could either "collect payment" whenever you want to recieve the rewards (LP, ISK, Salvage) you've gotten so far due to your contribution to the battle if you wish to abandon the effort or need stuff then and not later or wait until you either win or lose and then get paid plus a bonus
If you win as an attacker you are offered an optional defenders contract.
If you win as a defender you are offered to resign the defenders contract.
I'm not sure if this possible from a technical standpoint but if so this would be really cool

I like this Idea 
I think it would be cool to have an end point as well, yes the battle can be one in 3 hours or three years, but once it is won, leave it for a while and move on to a different territory.
Ex:
Min attack Amarr district A. Persistent battle last for 3 months but eventually, Min wins over "district A" The next battle will be for "district B".
Essentially, don't just keep fighting over the same land indefinitely, persistent battles is cool, but the "objective" needs to change.

Lets shorten that down from 3 months to ....maybe a week or so depending on player efforts.
It's difficult enough to plex down a system in a week even with hundred of players online.

Love it, i migth prefer PC stay set up
LOVE the idea of coninuous warfare on FW
Bit more eve-like dont ya think?
more of a flow during wars if we could get FW rolling like Planet Side 2
