Sony has updated the Firmware on the PS3.. Allowing you to use the Dualshock 4 on the PS3 wirelessly.
If you haven't really tried the controller and are still using the PS3 controller? it's worth going to pick a DS4 up..
There is no deadzones on the joysticks.. Basically when the joystick is sitting in the middle with the PS3 controller.. all the fine inputs you make from that resting point is in a deadzone.. that has little to very inconsistent inputs.
The Dualshock 4 controller completely gets rid of this. You know how the joystick on the PS3 controller can get slippery over extended use? Well the PS4 controller actually holds your thumb in place the more you use it. So you aren't adjusting thumb position very often.
It's just a better controller in every aspect. |

Will do, the only thing that was holding me back was the wire as I play in my living room. Will have to look which games are compatible with the DS4.

Every game should be compatible now, after the Firmware update. been on forums and havent heard of any limitations yet.
The only downside is it is registered as a 3rd party controller for the time until the next update addresses this Sony said.
Meaning you can't use motion controls and the Rumble feature on it.
But rumbling on a controller in a FPS game? last thing we need is more work trying to aim. Might aswell get your buddy to keep trying to mess with your controls as your playing.
P.S. Watch the youtube link, IGN news gives you a report aswell. As I wanted to back up what i was saying. |

I heard that the dust implementation isn't perfect, and you'll still need a ds3 to hand to do the stuff you cant with a ds4.
EDIT - Ah maybe this doesn't apply after the firmware update. My info was from the implementation from a few months ago. |

The Ds4 worked almost perfectly before with a wire on DUST. But didn't work on other games. But you had to have the wire plugged in.
Sony themselves have implemented a firmware update to all PS3's that allow the controller to register as a 3rd party device with support. Allowing full use of the DS4 on the PS3, just lacking in Rumble and motion control features.

Awesome! DS4 fits my hands much better. Is there an ETA on the Rumble support update? It'd feel a bit weird playing without it now, honestly.
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.

Am starting to get used to the DS4.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I still have to use cable... Is that the only way? Is there a setting to use it wireless?

Hold the share and PS buttons simultaneously whilst scanning for devices to make it show up.

Likes: -So much more comfortable -Aiming feels better -Buttons are solid and triggers are nice
Dislikes: -R1 button is awkward -I keep hitting R2 instead of R1 because the trigger feels more comfortable -No way to check PSN messages without using a second controller (PS button doesn't work to bring up the XMB) -The absense of rumble really hurt my performance (you can't tell easily that you're being shot at)
I think I'll wait until they make the DS4 completely compatible with the system before I spend hours building muscle memory for the PS4 controller in Dust.
