Face it, DUST 514 is going to end and Legion shall rise from its ashes.

What I've come to notice is the lack of 514 in Legion's name. This has lead me to believe that while it is a bit of mysterious lore, it also may be somewhat trivial. Now none of us know if 514 will reappear somewhere in game of Legion, but for now we all know that it isn't in the title.

My question is if 514 does in fact happen to be trivial and something that was admittedly over hyped by the developers, could those said developers finally let us in on the mystery that is the numbers 5 1 4.

I've been doing a lot of reading and it appears that CCP used Dust 514 as a bunch of meta things... like the day Dust came out of beta, the eventual number of players etc.

but lore wise, the Amarr found the Jovian's technology to transfer consciousness and used it to build clones. However, the Jovians used their own technology to try to escape the physical world and entered a digital/spiritual world. They became Sleepers. In this other world some evil... "thing" figured out how to take advantage of their technology and slowly started taking over Sleepers.

When the Templars were created this "thing" tried to take over the Templars. They went crazy, killed the scientists, and themselves, but not before writing 514 in blood on the wall. The 514 was the only way they could try to communicate what they had found out, but it didn't make sense because they were mostly insane by that point.

The story hints heavily that the 514 means that there are/ were 5 races, but 1 entity/ thing had taken over one of them, and only the 4 (Caldari, Gallente, Amarr, and Minmatar) were left.

Also, Empress Jamyl Sarum cloned herself, something no Amarr Emperor was supposed to do. In doing so it seems like she "fractured" her mind... or it could mean that this evil entity thing has now found someone of enough wealth, power, and influence to try to start it's plans in motion....

Only Templar 1 can save us now...

5 lobes, 1 consciousness, 4 empires. also 5-1=4 Yup, that too. Also there are a few bible versus that go along with that number and mesh well with the Eve/ Dust universe. And then there's the Amarr "bible" that has a verse that pertains to 514 too.

If you ask me, I think they came up with 1 meaning for 514, and then CCP started trying to fit all sorts of obscure references to 514 to make it more mysterious. If Logibro does know the "true" meaning and is refusing to tell all of us, then it is most likely something trivial and development related. I think this because CCP has done little to nothing to give us hints or encourage theories outside of what's in the book Templar 1.

So, I suppose, Logibro's withholding of information is just another way to make it more "mysterious."

Two things about 514 and in game lore were reveled to me at fanfest from a member of CCP. The 1st was that someone did get the answer right on the eve forums but they won't say which. The 2nd was related to the lore behind Valkyrie and that a leader of the Guristas who made the technology for the Valkyrie pilots turns out to be Clone 514

I've noticed you always refer to yourself in third person. Why? And can your response not be some smarmy street slang insult? Oh right...
Does that look like 3rd person to you?

To write in the third person, you either use people's names or the third person pronouns. Remember, pronouns are classified as follows: The singular pronouns refer to one person, and the plural pronouns refer to more than one. Within each of these two groups, they're classified as either first, second, or third person. Here is the classification:

 A. Singular Pronouns
 1. First Person: I, me, my, mine
 2. Second Person: You, your (and the old forms thee, thou, thy, thine)
 3. Third Person: He, him, his, he, her, hers, Its

 B. Plural Pronouns
 1. First Person: We, us, our
 2. Second Person: You, yours (or "Y'all" in the South, plus the old forms)
 3. Third Person: They, them, their, theirs

One way to think of it is "I" come first; "You" come second, and everybody else comes in third.

I thought since it is developed in China then it has a Chinese meaning like 38 does (San ba)

 Four means death

So it could be 51 deaths

Or a variation where 5 and 1 are also used.

Ooi - ei - see kind of phonetically would sound like other Chinese characters plus tone variations.
