And i begin to work on modules, which is most important? I know i need precision for other scouts but i feel lacking in my range even trying to detect normal suits. The dampener i feel i can level last because if i can see other scouts it will at least be even when they can see me as well on radar. I have an advanced suit with level 3 skilled in caldari scout. I'm not even sure if my suit will fit higher mods without upgrading to scout level 4, so should i add points into any of them for the bonus they give or level up my scout suit to get more cpu/pg room first? Forgot to mention i am still using a militia shotgun. Should i be upgrading that before anything else? |

I recommend you join this chat channel: Learning Coalition
I don't know much about scouts but upgrading the shotgun to STD is good because you'll be able to have more space to squeeze in your suit, due to the STD shotgun fitting reduction. Also, don't use an ADV suit until you have all ADV modules, it will put to waist the suit if you use basic on it.

Scout lvl 3 will last you a long time. I'm not sure how much help I can be since I tend to use my CalScout as a medic (and everyone and their mom tells me that's the wrong way to do it) but I think getting shield extenders to 3 is also pretty good. Aside from that, play with standard suits (which is what I have, but I only have CalScout lvl 1) and fit from there.
When you start getting the majority of your modules at advanced or higher, then I think, it would be a good time to go up to the advanced Cal Scout suit.
my fitting if you want to give it a try:
Cal Scout standard
Enhanced Shield Extenders x2 basic precision enhancer
militia armor repair
militia repair gun militia nanoinjector
gun of your choice (but I usually use either a breach AR or a RR, but I'm trying a ScR right now).
make sure you strafe a lot. engage the enemy while flanking, if you can. Swap to injector when running (it feels like I go a little faster, but it might just be my imagination). and revive and rep only if there are no enemies in sight (make sure you stay long enough to fully heal who you revive. no one likes coming back with 30% health).
btw, this is a rookie build. I have less than 1.3 million sp. (T_T ) |

100% need the following at a minimum to be a competitive scout and especially a competitive cal scout:
5 in dampening 3 in range amp 5 in precision enhancement
Other passives you will need at a MINIMUM. I will put a "*" where you should try to move to 4 or 5. In addition, this is the order I would get everything to those numbers as well. After you hit the minimum top off at 4 or 5 depending on what you can afford and what is logical.
Electronics 3* Engineering 3* Armor 3* Shields 3* Hack 3* Uplink 3* Nanites 1* (Suggest up to 3, 5 is only for specialists) Biotics 3* Repair Tool 3 Weapon handling (forgot exactly what it is called but it is for damage mods) 3 Armor plates 3* Armor rep 1* Shield extenders 3* Light Weapon 3* Grenade 3*
You only need 3 in a suit and 3 in a weapon to manage. After that do the above passives before moving on. After you get the above minimum passives then I would move to proto for your weapon of choice and proto for the suit. Then top off passives. You don't need the cloak at all. It's just not necessary to be a good scout.
As far as fits are concerned, I think Zelda gave you quite a good starting fit.

Forgot to mention i am still using a militia shotgun. Should i be upgrading that before anything else? For Cladari, I would say dampening, then range, then precision. Maintaining passive invisibility is core to scouting, range gives you the ability to better hunt heavies and mediums, while precision for hunting other scouts can wait until last (won't really make a different until you get it to proto, so it's a long way to go before it's useful). If they can't see you and you can't see them then you're on an even footing. If they can see you, then so can the other 5 guys in their squad.
The other main modules is shields. Once you get there, two complex precision enhancers will be enough to pick up almost everyone on the battlefield (for Pubs at least). The rest of your high slots are for shields, particularly if you're going to doing hit and run with a shotgun.
And yes, level up the shot gun to standard at least. Militia weapons are trash, the standard will be a significant upgrade.
Check out the below for some general socuting tips. Not entirely applicable to you, but there may be something useful.

Broker speaks the truth. Also drop by the Scouts United chat channel in game, and head on over to the Barbershop with any scout specific questions. This is where many of us hang out in the forums and you will get many experienced scouts answering your questions.

Oh lordy lordy lord
You do not want to get dampening last
I am a gallente scout, with 2 dampeners I am invisible to caldari scouts. Caldari scouts can't detect a good Galscout and I can detect bad caldari scouts. Bad caldari scouts don't use dampeners. If a gallente scout can scan you but you can't scan a gallente consider yourself dead. Don't think that Gallente can't scan back....

Explosives 1 for RE... awesome scout tool Grenades 1 for flux... To clear out equipment including REs Armor extenders 1... Best (anti)-bang for your buck. Level 1 plates are great and don't inhibit speed as much as better ones. Uplink and/or Nanohives 3 ... Uplinks for SP, nanohives for compact hives and injectors
MLT shotgun is surprisingly good. Consider that the main advantage of Standard is larger clip... Don't bother until you consistently need (survive) to reload. MagSec is probably one of the best sidearms for a Shotgun.
Generally level up core skills to the same level including the scout skills.
Upgrade electronics and engineering when you can't fit modules. No point doing it early until you have a need.
Shield extenders... Mixed on this as I tend to go all eWar. The general feeling is either one or level five. The complex shield extenders are much much better. Also shield extenders compete with damage modifiers which are a great way of making any class of weapon better. I tend to play glass cannon scouts. So it really depends on your playstyle.
Starting out I'd make several types of suits.
First is a quick one to start the game deploying uplinks. Second is your preferred style ie eWar or scout warrior Third would be the other style
