We need an option to have multiple voice channels up for people who want to talk to both their squad and the team. Just having two voice channels would be enough.
This would make team chat used more in pubs and make pc comms more organized. |

How is this different from just having your squad use Team Chat?
Like my ideas?

You would be able to hear your squad member in team chat as long as he has squad chat on as well. You should also be able to use custom chat channels. A team could have a vehicle user chat channel and those vehicle users could also have team chat on which would only have squad leaders that would relay information and orders to their squad.
It allows for combinations. I think two voice channels max would be a good start, but legion could have more.

I'm not entirely sure if that is within the scope of what can be done for Dust, but I will agree that a general overhaul of the comms system is very appropriate. I'm curious, are you familiar with the comms system used in MAG?

I only played the trial, but I know they made a comm system to make it easy for 128 players to have some order. I remember there being a different use for push to talk for different groups to chat or something.

Yeah so basically there was a hierarchy of command, Squad Leader, Platoon Leader, and OIC. If you were in the squad, you could talk to anyone in your squad. Squad Leaders had a channel they could switch to on the fly (It was like the D-pad I think) and speak to the platoon leader for the platoon they were in.
Platoon leaders could talk to anyone in their squad, or switch to platoon chat on the fly and speak to everyone in their platoon. They could also switch to another chat and speak to the OIC.
OIC could speak to everyone in thier squad, or switch to OIC chat to talk to everyone in the team at once.
It allowed for leadership to quickly communicate up and down the command tree on the fly without needing to do screwy comms setups or use 3rd party applications.
