Ratatti,
I am requesting that you update the MoTD/Splash Screen with a starting message as follows:
"A lot of changes that happen in the game are based on participation in our forums at [url]. Please, do not hesitate to join us on the forums and provide your two cents on that matter. Every new players input is considered equal to a vets. We are currently discussing changes for matchmaking, min-scouts, vehicle balance, and many others."
Then leave it up there and never take it down.
I honestly believe that:
A) People don't participate and provide input because they don't think it will matter
B) Some people just plain don't know about it. I didn't know about the forums until 30 days after I started to play. That was to complain about 1.7 happening a few hours after I bought Aurum. I actually thought it was a scam on some level.
C) That the only time the forums are mentioned is to reference a hotfix post or event. Nothing about actually having input on the game.
Please advise.
PS. I'm really retiring from the forums now and It would be freaking awesome if someone fixed the Amarr Logi bonus not applying to uplinks even if you don't change suits or don't die.

1) The forums are for people who really like the game. Even if they talk trash about Dust 514, they are still using something with said game's name on it.
2) Dust is on the river Styx. The only ones who can properly contribute to any useful data are ones who gave been using a certain item for quite some time now. A new guy not skilled into any suit is not going to be able to give feedback about a Ck.0 Scout besides, "HE ALWAYS KILLS ME! IS OP!!1!"
3) Sure. Idea seems solid. |

The average console player only gets on Game product forums when they are passionate about a product or have a grievance about it.
I would rather DUST do more with the Newsletter in informing the ENTIRE DUST 514 population and people coming to the DUST 514 product about the Newsletter and rewards for staying up to date with it.
As well as CCP actually using their newsletter to inform people about their Product.. and how about some cool pictures from legion? How about anything...
CCP could be making this an active part of the community but instead it's being treated like garlic in a room of vampires.
Seems CCP is really missing an opportunity to promote their community and excitement around products and the work they are doing...
Instead it seems they are always working damage control instead of working Press release and marketing their product and work. |

All I want are other players to be notified they can pariticipate. I don't care how. There was a player I played with last night who has over 600k WP for the month and asked "so what are the forums?". Why is this player not on here? Why are players that, sometimes, barely crack 100 kills in a month all over the forums arguing? I don't get it.
They can change the message to whatever they want. I just want more participation. I want more players arguing. I want more players that actually play giving input.

What does it really matter? What is the end game? We all know Legion is around the corner and Dust 514, is its testing ground. I like this game but let's be honest here.
We had a decent amount of players who interacted with the forums daily. Then FanFest happened. It's pretty hard to recover from that. I like Dust, but it will go out as a fart in tornado winds. |

Those players are usually EVE gamers... Who play EVE as their everyday game and DUST as a side hobby.
When in EVE they give you an ingame web browser... Plus your in space and it can take a while to do things like move around or most of the carebear posts you see are from miners in EVE who sit in belts all day.
Like I said.. Console players don't get on game forums to often unless they have direct problems with it, are extremely passionate about it or are looking for tutorials and guides.
Partially why DUST was such a success with it's community.. CCP was able to bring their socio-political forum tension from EVE along with keeping that general non cynical gaming nature of console players. It's made DUST forums interesting with leaving the complete utter Goonswarm mentality of asshattery in EVE forums. |

Btw, I love the rookie section of the forum and think it is amazing and desperately needed since there's no real tutorial in the game. Why keep new players away from that? |
