I have been a console player all my life. I know you computer guys look down upon us so I will ask for your help in this matter. Could some one tell me what the requirements of a decent tower would be to run Legion? I don't want to pay out the ass. I called best buy about having them build one for me because I hear making one is cheaper than buying one but they told me it would be about the same. I want to continue dust but I already have a ps3 and 4 now so I need a PC to continue my favorite game.
Some one help.
Thanks |

Thanks Sorry can't help with that I use a gaming laptop. It's not as good but works fine. But no building a "gaming" PC is much cheaper than buying one and all the specs will be the best instead of the standard bs. Other than that I can't help sorry.

If you are going to buy a PC just for legion, I would suggest to hold on to the money for a bit. Save up some money until legion is green lit so you can buy yourself a decent gaming computer. Anything with direct X 11 capabilities is good but right now anything with an nvidia 740 up to 770(my wife and sister in law have this one) would be good. These are top of the line mostly but maybe in six months to a year when legion is green lit you will have enough money to buy a Titan (best of the best) graphics card which could both be cheaper at that time and you would have saved more money to be able to make a very very decent gaming rig.
I made my sister in law a decent gaming PC with about 900 dollars that included an nvidia 770. You can get something cheaper but I would suggest holding on to the money and waiting till legion comes out. In the same way the titan will be cheaper in six months to a year so will the other two cards I mentioned.
FULLY Built computers
If you are going to buy a ready made computer I would suggest studying different makes and brands. A lot of these computers have many of the same guts and you could be paying a premium just for branding. Big brands tend to sell you their name but computer parts are usually from the same vendors. For example a company can sell you a computer with an nvidea graphics card, a western digital hard drive and an intel CPU for a thousand dollars and another brand can sell you the exact same thing for more money just because of their brand so you will have to do some investigating of your own. Now this is not easy if you don't know anything about PC's and how they work on a technical level. So I would suggest going over the video I will post up next to get a better understanding of how different parts work and you can make your own informed decision on what you want your machine to have.
DYI (DO IT YOURSELF)
DYI computers are a lot cheaper since you buy your parts as needed and not get stuck with things you don't want. To do this you need some technical backround and I do not suggest it. They are cheaper since you build them yourself and best buy tell you they are about the same price because you are asking them to build it for you hence you pay a premium for their services. I would suggest staying with pre-made computers since you have no PC heavy backround. In the future after you have experimented with cheap computers and parts, trust me you might get the bug, and you feel confidednt enough you can make or upgrade the pc you are thinking to buy now.
VIDEOS
I have seen some of these videos and they explain a fair amount of what is what and what to look for in the different components of the computers you want to buy. Here I'm going to post the two most important parts you want to learn about when choosing a PC. These videos do not tell you what the industry standards are. For example the intel core I7 could be the best now but in a year they could have a different series with better performance. The videos are just for understanding your components.

Cant tell you what youll need for legion til its green lit and see some specs so yeah, hold on to your cash til then Also maybe buy something cheap that can run CS or something and start practicing your mouse control, its so much easier to aim with than a controller and if you dont get your speed up youll get slaughtered |

I built my PC gaming rig in under an hour. Cost me less than 500 bucks Canadian from newegg, not including operating system. Save some money see what you can scavenge from friends or family, a decent case for example, do you need A dvd player probably not, Have a budget stick to it. Watch for sales, don't go to high end its not necessary unless you are rich, since you are posting here its safe to say you aren't. A intel i5 is more than capable compared to the price difference of an i7 dont skimp on graphic card buy a good one....... not a high end one |

If you're going to build/get a PC specifically for Legion I'd wait until it actually comes out. You'll be able to get something better for a little cheaper. Also sign up to Newegg, I got a combo deal that was a few dollars under $600 which was $200-$300 (can't quite remember exactly but it's in that range) cheaper than a prebuilt* that had an equivalent CPU but an inferior graphics card as well as one that had the graphics card but an inferior CPU. It was the 1st PC I built but it was pretty easy; hardest part was cable management, so many freaking cables but I also ended up getting a power supply with built in cables so I had a bunch I didn't need from that.
*A prebuilt from Newegg, not one of those gaming pc builders, those are just fcking ripoffs
Can't say I'm all that surprised.
I've been drinking and may be drunk.... probably like most dust players.

I just came to add some advice.
If you buying a pre built computer the main thing you want to watch out for is the motherboard.
since retailers oftin never list the make and model of the motherboard it tends to be the part that most mass produced machines are skimpy on despite it being one of the most important pieces.
on cheap mass produced machines the motherboard is ALWAYS the first thing to die.
Not only that but how much you can upgrade the machine over time to compensate for the power creep that is PC gaming entirely depends on the motherboard and its slot layout and maximum specs.
In this respect building your own machine has the advantage of you being able to control the quality of the motherboard ensuring that the machine will run for longer and be more adaptable over time while not being any more expencive over a store bought model.

Without knowing the minimum specs Legion will (maybe) have, there's no way to answer your questions directly.
One could assume that a decent vid card, cpu, and 8 GB of memory would probably still be good enough if / when Legion comes out.
If you're buing a PC just for Legion, I'd wait. The bleeding edge now will be mid range later and cost you a lot less. Not to mention, who knows what the manufacturers have waiting in the wings between now and Legion. |
