What should the perfect all purpose squad look like?
NOTE: I am creating this thread to discuss what such a squad should look like if all the roles were properly designed/defined (see assaults). It is a thought experiment to maybe help tighten up concepts for suit roles. For a more no holds barred/ your playstyle version of this discussion, look for the follow up thread "The Asskickingest Squad".
I'm thinking in general
- 3 Assaults
- 1 Scout
- 1 Logi
- 1 Heavy
or maybe
- 2 Assaults
- 1 Commando
- 1 Scout
- 1 Logi
- 1 HMG
What say you?

I think Logistics is the most valuable role on the battlefield. My preference for all those logis would be that they're all Amarr, for the uplinks. With that many (even just twelve) 4s spawns, everyone else's slots would be freed up.

Assaults are more versatile than the Commando, but the ability for the Commando to respond to both infantry and vehicles is unparallelled. If I was looking for a squad for a specific purpose the Assault might get a look in, but for a general purpose/respond to any threat squad I'd go the above.

I would say the Ideal Squad would be ;
-2 Assaults -1 Commando AV -1 Sentinel -1 Logi (good logis can take care of their hole squad by themselves) -1 Scout
Right now in order to achieve this the best squad set up would be;
-2 Amarr Assaults (only Assault with a decent weapon bonus) -1 Minmitar Commando. (bonus to swarms and Combat rifle for defense. can carry their own ammo) -1 Amarr Sentinel (because two damage mods, a Six Kin, and over 1000 armor means F**K you) -1 Minmitar logi (best reps as well as can carry Needle, ammo, and uplinks) -1 Caldari scout (because their passive bonus helps the squad other scouts bonuses do not)
Of course right now there are far more effective squads out there.
