is a stupid idea... they used to be team wide, now they are only squad wide, and if you remove them, it makes part of the reason to squad no longer exist.
so the cal scout's scans are too strong, dial them back a bit... but to remove this integral squad function makes no sense.
I would be happy to debate this topic here.
but I urge you all, if you are against removing them make your voice heard!
some of this community is seriously going off the deep end with some of their ideas... remove commandos??? dumb! remove orbitals from ambush??? ridiculous!! remove squad shared passive scans??? ludicrous!!!

I was originally in support of removing them, but then I realized that it would make squadding with caldari scouts unfavorable because they could see everything and us heavies can't.
BUT
Part of the reason why heavies are annoying to deal with is that if they are in the same squad as a scout, they can see just as much as that scout can. This is a HUGE advantage that the heavies shouldn't be able to have...especially because they can see my dampened scout sneaking up on them since the caldari scout in the squad can.
CCP doesn't realize that the knowledge of where an enemy is (and even what direction they're facing) is a HUGE advantage when it comes to FPS games. The scanner is fine now because it has limited use, but passive scans able to do the same thing...but constantly, 360 degrees around the scout with no cooldown, no duration, no notification of being scanned, not even a required item to be used...
I don't see how anyone SANE could think that's okay, or even fair, especially when you consider that scouts can increase that passive radius to a ridiculous amount, while already having the precision on their suit to see 99% of suits out there.
20 meters out from the player or being able to see someone sneaking up on you is one thing...being able to provide CONSTANT enemy intel for your heavies and yourself covering half of the radar without the enemy even knowing and without having to even use an item is just wrong.

I just wish the passive scan would be pulse based 1 pulse every minute (or every 30 secs) and that this passive scan would highlight enemy just like the focused scanner just for a short period of time.
I guess this would balance passive scanning really fast as this would give ANY suit the chance to sneak up on a squad... |

I like shared scans, makes Caldari Scouts useful to the team and not just themselves. Just make it easier to prevent the damn thing.

If anything, military intelligence systems of the future would be much more informative and share locational data team wide. My vote is that TACNET would be as realistic as possible. Whatever you do, developers, don't remove any more Intel from TACNET. It's already ridiculously dumbed down.

I agree with shayz ( btw I run a cal scout ) I don't get a bonus to damage because a commandos in my squad, I don't get resistance from a heavy in my squad. My logi only effects my equipment, not the squads. Scouts sacrifice ehp for low prof and high scan. I went prof 5 cal scout ( before bravo ) even when I knew gal scout was obviously going to be better with a cloak ( pre cloak nerf ). Single scouts seeing you isn't a big deal... The 2 heavys, 2 commandos , and the logi in his squad seeing as well as he does without having to use a active scanner is.

so, as I said, dial back the cal scouts passive scans... why would we remove a feature of the game because of one class?
the crazy thing to do is removing shared passives instead of fixing the cal scout... |

Removing squad vision will only result in more active scanners being used. So hmg heavies will still see reds on scans.
The hmg is the real issue. Every weapon's dps has been reduced except the hmg and the recent AR buff. Hmg heavies are taking over and unlike scouts, there is only one truly effective counter to hmg heavy, another hmg heavy.
And the fatties keep screaming stay outside thier optimal, which is ludicrous since most of the maps and objectives force players into the hmg's OP cqc zone of dominance.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.

Active scanners were only visible to your squad. I don'T care much about the topic, mostly because I don't notice it when I'm squaded with a cal scout. The only problem I have is the hit box

That's the problem as only the cal scout is really useful in that regard the other scouts are missing something. The gals super stealth was somewhat useful but gets degrades to a level barely anyone will use it to be honest its more useful to use your gal scout as a weaker form of cal scout than running three damps (or of course stack armor and shields).
Don't get me started on the amarr or min scout.
If shared squad vision should be a scouts asset all of them should be good at it and just the cal should be excellent. Comparable to active scanners (the cal would than be the focused active scanner). And of course scouts should be rewarded for passive scans as well. But passive scanning on the other scouts is not really wort the effort to specialize into it...
