The HMG needs a serious range adjustment, as it stands now heavies with HMG's plus all of that hp are too overpowered to other classes. Especially in the lower tier suits. |

I have no clue what you're talking about. Every time I get into my heavy suit I get wrecked by someone who's practically not at my feet. Anyone with an assault rifle, rail rifle, or combat rifle destroys me. That or a scout suit with a shotgun. Then again I'm addicted to the MH-82 and that's not even the reduced accuracy/increased range model!

Honestly just a slight range reduction would suffice, then at least an assault with a rifle could kill the heavy from a far. |

There is nothing wrong with the HMG, if you re getting 'outranged' by a guy with Close-Quarters breaching weapon you need to take serious look at career as a mercanary.
However for clarification.
Gùå The HMG has an optimal range of less than 30m Gùå The HMG has an effective range of less than 50m Gùå The HMG has a large circle of dispersion that increases further when the heavy moves (The speed of movement has no effect on this)
Gùå All 10 rifle variants have greater range. Gùå In order for a HMG to do any meaningful damage at greater than 30m the user must crouch and ADS while holding sustained fire.
In short you sit about 40m and watch and laugh as his 'deaths engine' does next to no damage and you score continous headshots.
It's not often I say this but, get good.

I love the simple get good remarks when defending an overpowered setup. The hmg needs to be less accurate after 30m or not effective at all after 30m because right now it's too overpowered. I have an alt account with a heavy hmg setup and its crazy how easy it is for me to run around and noob spray everything that walks. |

Yea I've seen you before. You run up on heavies like you're Superman. Repeatedly. You never shoot from a distance. The range of a HMG is not that huge, so that means you can only be a few meters from the enemy.
So in other words, you're doing it wrong. |

So why are you asking for a range nerf on their HMGs? If you're considerable distance away from the heavy, the spread of the HMG's projectile only pings you a few decreases of shield, allowing you to adjust and attack...or run.
Any "OP" player would know that and use it to their advantage. |

Markul here is the thing, if you stand at 30m away the heavy must crouch and ADS in order to get anywhere near a decent DPS if you cannot kill this STATIONAIRY target with a rifle, the you do actually need to get good.

I don't understand how someone thinks they can make unsupported claims. Everyone is entitled to their opinion because opinions mean nothing. OP should come back with some analysis or at the very least facts to support his nerf.

I suggest you actually read the range finder when you attack people, I bet they're all within 30m.
I use almost every weapon in the game, and I can definitely say, this sounds like you've never played the class, or have never bothered to look at the range indicator.
I can easily down a HMG heavy with the starter suits, simply by keeping a bit of distance over them...
Lately, I haven't been dying from heavies, except the ones with the lucky forgegun strikes, because the fields have been inundated with Scouts who can literally dodge through gunfire again.

HMG's are capable of doing 75% damage or something at 37m. That's just a little longer than across te street.
When a tanker is about to die, wanna know how they live? Jump out with a HMG and mow down your Wyrrkomi Swarm + Boundless Combat Rifle Commando in LITERALLY 1.2 seconds.
'Just run away' you say! But i sacrifice a high just to regen shield above 20/s, and a low to regen half my health.
Alongside that, AV scouts are quite simply instakilled by the HMG, and with such low health(162 shield, 396 armor) i can't even DPS race him using a Magsec SMG at 45m.

Get over yourselves fatties, many skilled players I've talked to go from a fully maxed proto whatever fit, which on top of maxed core skills has a suit + gun SP Investment of over 8 M SP, and then they use an 3 M SP alt with a basic fatty HMG setup and do just as good if not better. And lets not forget that the protofittings cost 180-220 K isk while at least my Fatty setup cost les than 30 K isk...
Its at least what happened to me when I did a "Babar goes fatty" Experiment about 3-4 weeks ago. I had a KDR well over 10, and I had no previous experience running as a fatty, well I did use that alt in beta which is why I had 750 K Sp on it....
I see players like Taz-666 - The Rainbow Effects dedicated hacker and AV dude, he has a KDR of less then 2, way les than anyone else in TRE, suddenly he starts wearing a Minmatar speed fatty with a HMG and he gets rounds like 37-3 30-0 and so on, scores that I've never seen him even get close to. I have more examples of, well lets say "non-slayer" players that suddenly has an insane rice in KDR, after they respecced into fatsuits/HMG combos.
The range argument is somewhat a bad one. There are a number of CQC maps, the so called city maps, where you have 2-3 objectives within fairly close distance. There are plenty of cover and engaging the Fattys at distance is simply not possible.
So whats the effective viable counters to them? - Gang up 3 vs 1, (even that can be hard in some situations...) - Use shotty scouts or perhaps RE's (Hardly viable in the long run due to passive scanning, situations etc) - So the best and only really viable counter to fatty spam in the long run is to spam your own fattys. Do wwe see a trend of this already? Doesn't this also sound a lot like a certain Tank situation?
At least tell me this; if fattiy/HMG combo is so balanced, why is it that I see them all over the place, in any game mode even on the big more open maps? Some statistics of % of HMG kills would be very interresting to see. Its not like the Dust playerbase isn't known for flocking to the current most OP setup....
The suits are fine, the HMG needs some sort of change that rewards skill over spray and pray, its getting ridicculous....
FU and FU Dust community, you're mostly a bunch of moronic carebear crybabies. Get good.

this isnt even in the correct section of the forums. post this in the feedback/ideas section.
anyways, we dont want a giant, high RoF smg. this is a HEAVY MACHINE GUN. looks at the words really carefully now. its suppsed to be menacing. plus, any 'balances' made to the Heavy suit would most likely make it easier for a single player to take one down. that is not supposed to be the case. a Heavy/Sentinel is supposed to be a defender or positions and objectives. that means they are supposed to be able to "hold the fort" and protect areas that are getting hammered by enemy troops, at lest until the medium frames get there. it should take at least 3 players all shooting at the same heavy to take him down. but that isnt even the case right now.
someone suggested earlier that heavies with vehicles are becoming a problem, and that they just basically drive up to people and mow them down. i agree, this is becoming a problem. but, instead of nerfing to hmg to fix this, how about we suggest CCP makes it so that heavy-framed troops cannot drive vehicles (with the exception being the commando maybe? or it could just be heavy frames altogether. the amount of players using the open turrets on LAVs and dropships in heavy frames just so they dont get shot out of them is getting absurd too).
if you dont want to get mowed down by heavies, use the weakness. scout shotgun them in the face OR take on heavies in groups. thank you for your time!

If you are being killed by the assault or burst hmgs past 30 meters that is consistent with intent. They sacrifice the installer for longer range. So please be more specific about which guns you are being pasted by. A blanket nerf when one or two specific units might be causing problems will create more issues than it will fix. |
