I'm trying to be constructive here.
I don't know how long Dust has. I am hopeful that new Mpas will exist for the next iteration of the game/franchise.
Some ideas.
First make a parking like structure. Two or three maybe four levels, stairs on the corners. Ramps, lots of pillars. Just an idea.
Second. I have no idea how long it takes to make a building or a Map. none.
But maybe try to put out a new map every quarter or that not making sense a new building every quarter and maybe a new map every 9 months.
There are different sized buildings, small, medium, large, and huge.
The Pyramid is a Huge building and took a long time to make, I'm guessing.
The office buildings less so. For all intents and purposes the office buildings are a roof and ladders to get to the top and in some cases obstacles on top, or maybe a couple of sub roofs. the harder part is making five or six of them, with alleys and different heights and placing obstacles so just being higher doesn't allow you to dominate.
Suggestion for bridges - ladders to get to the upper support level. In the real world people have to constantly paint bridges to keep them from rusting. ladders and passageways or rope lines are common.
New Bridge - twice as wide and twice as long. a gap between the two spans and paths above and below. Maybe gun turrets or Spawning spots on sub levels or inbetween the two spans.
Maybe a Golden gate type bridge, two really high towers, cables to run up and down on.
Maybe a small turret type building in the middle of a bridge.

Create a Map maker kit/program for players. Let players play matches on these new maps, but they have to offer feedback, say you get one week of new Maps for every completed feedback form.
The form itself, have some true/false or check box comments and then some detailed comments.
I'm guessing this is really hard and you get some really low quality maps and some that have had a lot of work, but are not usable. The sweet spot a good map that is playable on all three types of game play is very hard to achieve.
Hire a couple of interns, pay them food and gas money and they do 80-90% map making. It's resume work.
This idea works with Dust or a future iteration of the FPS game.
I hope this is taken as constructive, not criticism. |
