So I'm actually new to scouting as a whole. I've been using the Caldari scout with the Magsec SMG as my primary weapon, and the Bolt Pistol as my secondary.
I try to enhance my passive scanner, so as to help increase survivability. But I still get shredded, when I feel I've got the upper hand. Perhaps I'm being too aggressive.
Anyways, any tips for a Magsec main Calscout? |

I'm all about E-War so I'm going to say get Cal scout, dampening, and precision to 5 ASAP and range to at least 3 (but 5 eventually). I know that's a lot but it will really give you a huge advantage when you're passively scanning everything under the sun.
Never attack anyone head on. Work to attack from behind or beside and when either your target is alone or you can kill him quickly and escape. Since you're not using a shotgun, this is extra important since you won't be out DPS-ing most other suits. You're an assassin, hide and hit hard then hide again.
I'd probably use the Bolt Pistol first while you have an element of surprise, get one or two easy shots in then when they start strafing spray-n-pray with the Magsec.
Hope that helps.

I use my Cal scout as a medic. ^_^ lots of shield mods, armor repair, militia nanoinjector, militia repair gun. and a gun (currently messing around with a breach assault rifle, but also have a rail gun). I really like it so far, but I can't run around solo. (o_O) |

YOU! Don't you even try stealing my job! Expecially if you're going to do it in such a bad way! Those equipment slots would better be filled with RE/Cloack/Uplinks/Scanner

Those equipment slots would better be filled with RE/Cloack/Uplinks/Scanner I don't have much of an option, I'm under 1 million sp. This is the only way I can contribute to the battlefield at the moment, and I feel like I AM helping.
My average gun battle goes like this: flank, flank, kill, kill, no enemies in area. res, then stick with ressed merc until they're FULLY healed. Move to next merc that is down.
If there is no merc down, then go find the next area with a gunfight. I do not (90% of the time) leave a resurrected merc to fend for themselves. I will stay and rep. I'm not the best, but I don't think I'm that bad of a medic. |

Get nano up it gives both injectors and nanohives. Compact nanohives give armour back and leave plenty of CPU/PG for other things.
MLT Shotgun (no skill required and it is easier to hit with none) is a good main weapon to go with the MagSec.
Sidearms are more situational so they can be hard to kill off someone compared with one of the rifles.
Drop links are also worth getting level 1 into and dropping at the start of a match. Drop one 100-150m from an objective and you will see a slow trickle of WPs from these. Every person who uses one is 25 WP, if you are the only one with links it often feels like every enemy kill is 50WP to them 25WP to you. Be smart about where you leave drop links as they can be ambushed... You can remove a drop link by adding another one of the same sort above the amount that can concurrently be used. So for a basic uplink drop a second one and the first disappears... It can save your team.
Flux grenades. If you do hack and the objective is red. Flux before attacking. Scouts love leaving REs on or around objectives. |
