Releasing Legion on PC first is a smart move as CCP has a captive audience. If they want it to grow beyond their eve playerbase however, they will need to port to console.
None of this really matters if the game isn't any good. Also, leave game design based on market share to Ubisoft, Activision, and EA.
It would also be stupid not to release a MOBA on PC. But I don't really see anyone clamoring for CCP to make legion and EVE MOBA. Or a "Quafe Squash Saga" The EVE mobile game about chugging your way through hundreds of sweet, delicious, syrupy levels of puzzle adventure.
The only thing this thread really offers is further proof that CCP really messed up in their PR and messaging around legion. They made Legion a game about a platform. It is a vortex from which they cannot escape. Almost every thread in this section of the forums eventually devolves into a platform squabble.

That report is more than proof. It clearly illustrates the potential of a FPS on either platform. The idea is that the PC audience is geared towards casual, RPG and strategy games. The console audience was predominantly action and shooter.
Any enndevor requires market research or else you're barking up the wrong tree. It would be like opening an ice cream parlor in the arctic. Just doesn't make sense.
And the platform on which you deliver your product is always important. It wasn't just a PR nightmare, it was a grossly misinformed desicion. I won't even get into the huge gap in revenue between formats, as it speaks for itself.
I don't own a gaming PC. And if someone lives on Baffin Island and their dream is to make really delicious ice cream, then more power to them. But I really believe that the whole "The market for console FPS games is HUGE!" approach was part of what led to Dust failing to deliver on the promise of the visions CCP inspired in player's imaginations between like, 2009 and late 2012.
People claim that Dust's biggest failing it was on PS 3. Or that it wasn't also on PC. Or that it was a lobby shooter.
But I really believe that the game failed because it tried to be the game that everyone wanted to play. Go ahead and count the number of times that CCP churned out the phrase "Triple A Shooter" when talking about Dust 514 between fanfest 2012 and the summer of 2013.
I am not sure what to think of CCP as developers. They are nothing like Rockstar Games, churning out hit after hit. Nothing like Bungie, or Blizzard, or Valve, or CD Projekt Red. It is almost as if they somehow manage to fall over backwards and create compelling games purely by accident. But EVE wasn't built to be the game that everyone wanted to play. I don't play EVE but from what I have learned about the game it was made to be the game that CCP wanted to play. Same with Valkyrie. No one even really knows if VR Headsets are their own unique platform or just a peripheral. There isn't even a VR Headset market. And already Valkyrie has gotten more positive attention based on actual gameplay that Dust 514 ever did.
So yeah, trot out ESA , don't for a minute try to convince me that,
"86% of parents believe that the parental controls available on all new video game consoles are useful. Further, parents impose time usage limits on video games more than any other form of entertainment: 79% of parents place time limits on video game playing 78% of parents place time limits on Internet usage 72% of parents place time limits on television viewing 69% of parents place time limits on movie viewing"
Somehow conceals the secret to truly inspired game development. Just waiting to be revealed. If only CCP would just see it! Page 6 is just a bunch of stats on parents by the way. Doesn't mention platform at all. It could just as easily apply to kids who play Minecraft on their parent's home office desktops as it does to kids playing CoD on Xbox. It may be interesting but I don't really see the connection to project legion.
