So after finding out from Aero that I can request CCP to move my station to Myyhera III (24th Imperial Amarr space) and get my character OUT of that boring Caldari quarters and into my new "golden" merc quarters, I can say that I am now content.
To add to my joy, my fellow Amarr Viktor Hadah Jr had a new shiny set of Templar gear/weapons sent to my quarters as a welcome home gift AND I also have a lot of my fellow Amarr loyalists now in local chat and in one central location.
All of that AND my Ak.0 gets another slot? In the immortal words of rapper Ice Cube..."Today was a good day".

Yes. Just got the conformation after sending it at 11pm EST yesterday night that I had been moved. It only took them 12 hours, just like Aero and True said it would.

So to clarify: I'm fond of Minmatar, can I request to change my local (whatever it is, sorry...) to more appropriate place?

Yes it seems, though I am not familiar with Matari space. It will also place you in that factions merc quarters, which was a welcome change! Now I am surrounded by gold!
